I have Ehlers Danlos, MCAD, Fibromyalgia and POTS. I am still learning how to trick out my wheelchair.
I have a suburban farm with backyard chickens and a pug who photobomb videos.

I am a fan of distractions like writing and illustrating children's books and fairytales and hosting my children's history podcast I Can't Believe That Happened.
I run a witchy goth home decor business called Owl and Twine

I enjoyed listening to our interview just as much as I enjoyed our conversation together, Monica! Thanks for asking me to be on your podcast, which I love. I think we could have talked for hours (if I wasn't worn out and you weren't in pain!). I wanted to clarify one thing I heard myself misspeak during the interview - my book is available everywhere in print and on all e-book platforms, including through Libby and other library systems ... BUT it is not yet available on audio. I'm working on it, though! I recorded the audio this summer (then got COVID and everything came to an abrupt stop). I'm editing it this fall and hope to have the audio available on all audio platforms by the end of the year.

question: what is the difference between the blue and the green youtube videos? i feel like i’m missing something obvious. if i’m remembering correctly, sometimes you used to post video of these conversations. is that it? lol i don’t remember how many years ago that was
@Invisiblenotbroken
@Invisiblenotbroken 6 месяцев назад
there is no difference. It is only what I can pull myself together to do and whatever is the quickest and easiest thing. I really wish I was more clever and had come up with something fascinating like the Doctor Who episode with the blue tire the red tie that would be much smarter than I actually am so thank you for giving me that credit but no, there’s no difference other than what’s the easiest thing for me to do.

RE: ER wait times - in October 2023, I was hospitalized locally for a week due to chronic conditions, including severe malnutrition, chronic vomiting & colonic intussusception. My attending finally told us he wanted to discharge me & send me down to our big university hospital bc my needs were beyond what they could assist with. A direct transfer would’ve taken another week, & I was very ill, so this was basically an “unofficial” transfer through their ER. I went directly from one hospital to the other hospital ER, which was over an hour drive. My records & test results had been sent to the university hospital ahead of time to expedite the process. After 17 hours, a physician came in & said to me, “You think you can throw up?” I thought briefly that he didn’t understand the situation so I started to explain I had a chronic vomiting condition & had just been hospitalized for a week at a smaller hospital but they couldn’t get it under control so had sent me there, & if they would please just check my records the last hospital had sent, he’d see- “No, I already know all that,” the doctor said, cutting me (and my chapped, bloody, dehydrated lips) right off. “I’m asking you, if i give you something to eat right now, will you be able throw it up in front of me?” I’m like…. “WUT?” Dr: “Because you if you can’t vomit in front of me, I’m not going to admit you. I’ll just send you home tonight.” Me: “You’re going to send me home in this condition, without an IV, knowing I’m already severely dehydrated & malnourished? How is that even ethical?” Dr: *shrugs* “How else can I believe you? Either vomit in front of me right now, or I’m sending you home.”

Great podcast! I have a hearing with an ALJ coming up someday, and I'm afraid that the suffering I've been going through just won't be enough to qualify because my condition, on paper, should have been short-lived and treatable had they found and diagnosed it correctly 2 years ago. Now they're finally treating the original condition, but it feels like it's going to be a long road to possibly fixing all the complex chronic pain syndromes they caused by leaving it untreated for so long.

Thank you for this. I ran across this podcast from a random comment on The Daily Show. I can't even imagine what it's like to have a chronic lifelong illness, and my heart goes out to those that do. I'm much older and I've only been living with chronic pain for 2 years now and my suffering has been unimaginable. It breaks my heart that this happened to you so young, but your attitude is so inspiring. Best wishes to you and yours! ❤❤❤

@@Invisiblenotbroken sorry for the confusion I was duel referring both to you and the guest without distinguishing which lol. My pain comes from a sprain in my iliolumbar ligament that was misdiagnosed as a disc issue for 2 years while the constantly spasming iliopsoas muscle turned the entire lower half of my body into a constant barrage of various fiery, itching, and stabbing pains. They just found the sprain last week after years of mostly fruitless treatment, so there's finally at least some hope but I empathize with anyone going through anything even close.

That's exactly when they must spring into action! 🤣 My Mom's cat would sit right in the middle of whatever she was writing on/working with. Or he'd push something over when he was really mad. Once I was looking after the house when they were out of town. I went to bed in the master bedroom and he tried to take me out with the lamp. 🤣 He was so mad at me, probably thought I'd gotten rid of his momma. He was a stinker but he was awesome!
