Thanks for this great video, Mike! I was lucky enough to grow up on Noble House and it’s a real treat to see her again and know she’s giving someone else pleasure. Happy sailing!
A great video Mike. Over the winter, I made a long list of "things to do" to keep the Express 30 project alive. At the top of the list is to find the remaining leaks this summer in 11 Thirty!
You did a good job explaining the pros and cons of rebuilding a boat compared to just upgrading one. Glad you found what works for you now. Happy sailing !
Loved this! Have never seen Lake Erie from the middle before. Made me think if my ancestors who immigrated from Ireland in 1818 and ended up on Lake Erie for their final journey to Port Talbot and then to London Township. Doubt their sail was as enjoyable as yours.
Yes it is really a beautiful lake when the weather is nice. When the wind picks up though, the waves can grow short and steep because the lake is so shallow. It's kind of fun when you are out of sight of land to let your mind wander, thinking you are out in the ocean.
Hi Mike, great video it was entertaining and I learnt a lot, one key things in life is if it doesn't work the first time, try and try again. I have recently started repairing/building boats with my first video being released today, you're more than welcome to have a look, possibly suggest how I could improve things? Thanks Tom
Tom, I enjoyed your video, especially the sea shanties. Your boat is looking pretty good after the work you put into it. I hope you have fun with it. Mike
Hi Nancy. We decided to make the version that cuts in half, because of storage. It is designed so that the bow will nest inside the stern section when they are apart, which will take up a lot less space in the shed or the basement. It also means that we can transport the boat inside my car, instead of on a roof rack or trailer.
@@nancycolbert2703 Nancy, there is a rubber gasket between the the bulkheads on the front and back of the boat. The top of the bulkheads should also be above the waterline so water should not be able to come in.
Yep, this is the third kit that I have built. The other three were scratch built, but I felt the kit would be a little faster and easier to complete by summer. Are you going to try a kit airplane?
Thanks! I think you should give it a try. I remember my dad built an optimist along with other members of the Grand Bend Yacht Club back in the 1960's. I think I got the bug early.
Oh boy, I don't think that we will be delivering anything soon. The kit has arrived and we have started the build in the basement. Hope to be done in time for the summer. Thanks for the comment.
