Darlene, you are awesome!!! I'm a 55-year-old composer, pianist, flutist, and professional singer who has finally (after a lifetime of curiosity) decided to take up the harp. Your lessons are exactly what I've been looking for, and even the basic music-reading exercises are great because we all need to develop that instantaneous correlation between a written note and the physical action(s) that one must take to perform it. You are a God-send. Thank you so much!
HI Darlene! I would like to thank you for making these videos, it did saved me a lot from taking music lesson, you are such a great teacher, oh btw i did purchased your beginners book for harp it’s awesome! Please keep making videos for us
Hi Darlene, I'm new to the harping family...I was doing pretty good until you switched over to your larger harp...now I'm completely confused and I don't get playing the numbers...can I ask why you switched from calling out the notes to counting numbers? Maybe I can understand better...a new student from 🇨🇦 I'm a senior and i just retired last year...I've always wanted to learn to play...you're the best online teacher...but i wish you can go slower lol 😆 😅😂
Hi Kathy - there should be a link for the support papers below the video. (See the drop down arrow just below the video, on the right.) We happy you enjoy the lessons!
Hi Darlene. I am interested also to learn. I haven't played any instrument in the past, and had no musical background, but I am desiring to play harp, because just like Charlie, I'd like to help bring comfort to those who need it, through the wondeeful and beautiful music/sound of the harp. I already have a 29-stringed harp 🎵🎵❤️
I'm 61 and just beginning. No musical background, but I'm watching some basic RU-vid videos on that subject. Start and just keep going. It's not as if you need to be a performer and earn a living with what you learn -- this is just for YOU and your own enjoyment! Set aside a slot of time every day and inch by inch, it's a cinch. Enjoy the journey and don't let anything interrupt it. (And don't listen to anyone tell you it's silly at your age. I don't, and it pisses them off.)
That is so neat! We have a rescue dog who deals with anxiety and when I play my harp, he lays down and totally relaxes. An interesting experiment would be to go to a kennel or dog pound and see what affect that would have. Often kennel workers have to wear ear protection because the barking is so loud.
