👋 Hey, I’m Charlie! I make videos about everyday sustainability, from living a realistic eco lifestyle to DIYs and product reviews. I also have a website and blog for more tips, guidance and sustainable products, check it out www.lifebeforeplastic.co.uk/
@@LifeBeforePlastic well if you are looking for a way to eat breadcrumbs before you go on a trip add some to your fried batter mix whenever you deep fry something, I usually use it for fried chicken as a coat . I also use old cereal like cornflakes for this too . They are super useful for fried batters. Breadcrumbs are also great in meatballs too, if you into eating meat that is, lol 😂 basically breadcrumbs are great whenever you are using a recipe that requires flour. Considering bread is basically flour. Breadcrumbs are good. As for the rest of the stale bread , you can use it in French toast or my favorite French toast casserole. Just break up the bread and drench it in the typical French toast mixture but instead of putting in the stove, you put into the oven. Perfect for big servings.
@@ameliaarrows2790 wow French toast casserole sounds delicious! I don’t eat meat but I did coat my tofu last night in a kinda veggie schnitzel it was great. I will try the French toast, thanks for the idea!
Food actually doesn’t break down well in landfill. It releases methane a greenhouse gas more harmful than co2. Great if you have a compost but most people don’t. Also there is so much food poverty. We should be eating all the food we can.
This is such a helpful review! I'd used kutis natural deodorant for years but found the cardboard casing would deteriorate after a while making it difficult to use so I switched to Wild after seeing lot's of hype! I was disappointed by the amount of plastic inside the casing and also found replacing the deodorant really tricky (so glad you highlighted this as i thought it was just me 😂). I kind of feel a bit stuck with it now I've got the case as it seems wasteful to stop using it. What is the fussy deodorant casing made from? Thanks 😊
I would defo keep using it if it works for you! That’s the most susty option. The fussy case is made 100% from recycled plastic - not ideal but it’s all one material so would be easier to recycle at end of life.
I’ve found that an overnight soak works just as effectively as boiling! Mix soapnut water with citrus bioenzyme for clothes to smell a tad citrusy and fresh.
I use smol dishwasher tablets and laundry pods. I may go back to laundry liquid instead once I use the laundry pods up. Loose dishwasher powder can be messy.
I really recommend choosing something that got minimal ingredients in it - there are so many commercial laundry liquids with harmful to aquatic animal ingredients so make sure to look out for that. Even if the box is green! I recommend going to a refill shop or shopping with bower collective or miniml for laundry liquids
@@LifeBeforePlastic Thanks for this info 😊 - can you do a deep dive video about this and what to look out for? I have some Miniml products in my house. I also use Bio D and Sesi. I'm in Wales 🏴
Wait but the birth rate where decreasing before the invention of modern plastic Because of the chemicals we add to our water to make them sterile enough to be safe to drink
Well its good news for me that in my digestive system I was tested positive for a plastic eating bacteria you know the one they find in garbage sites so all i just need is to have a test to see what is found in my ball maybe the bacteria helping me
I drove past a housing development area and saw tonnes of the stuff floating around as if it's normal, and half of that is polystyrene and packaging thats becoming part of the soil structure. Ooh, and then there are council workers on ride-on mowers cutting grass littered with plastic people throw out their windows. What a time to be alive.
We live next to a playground and one time a kid walked by telling their friend "That's the eco-family!" And I was like What?!?! How??? But then again we don't have a car, got vegetables and fruit in our garden, don't really eat meat, buy ecological foods often, save on energy and water as much as possible ... yeah, I guess we are the eco-family. 😅
Yeah. As long as you’re not going out of your way NOT to be, and not going on planes frequently you’re fine. It’s big companies and celebs that need to account not average working people.
Dishwasher does NOT save water......only if you compare it to rinsing of,right before putting in the mashine....which is totally stupid...especially under running water...and add the use of electricity....
I love this. We don't have to throw away things right away. Repurpose them or give them new life. Get a pill shaver (clothing). Learn how to fix holes, replace zippers, etc. Patchwork can be a cool thing!
