One of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs gets the HF treatment. This is a perfect song to introduce Bastien to the audience. Perfect for his voice and his personality. Love it. An extraneous comment - you really should use headphones when you listen to a cappella. So much that you can really only hear that way.
A the old west pistol (big iron) was a rare sight,they were very expensive aprox $2000 in 2024 money. Rifles were more utilitarian and much cheaper due to the military having 100,000+ made,and rifles are more accurate at a distance, for hunting a necessity.
They did a great cover of one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. Bastien's voice was perfect for the lead. Everyone sounded awesome in the background vocals, Rob with his bluesy sound, Tim's bass & Adam's vocal percussion. Looking forward to more of the new songs with the newest member.
Ashley Diane Rosa is a performer and recording artist from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where she was an old friend of Cesar. . She spends her time singing female lead vocals with Frequency and with multiple ensembles, like Voices of Liberty at Epcot, Jazz quartet RESOLVE, various recording studios and more. The Spanish version of this song was very popular in Puerto Rico so they incorporated part of it here.

Another great video by #HomeFree! Love this Bonnie Raitt cover, given new life by the boys. Bastien was a fantastic lead, the BGVs and percussion amazing as always, and any time we get to hear Gospel Rob is a treat. Keep going down the Home Free rabbit hole there is much to discover and you will see that they never disappoint!
First, a big YAY! to Abe and his sweet dance moves. Actually Bastien has been a member of the Home Free family almost since the earliest days in 2000-2001. He was part of Home Free between the time Matt Atwood retired to start a family and Austin joined around 2012 or so and was a member of the Home Free B-team that covered their tour dates while they were on the Sing-Off. When Chris Rupp left in 2016 he started a group called 7th Ave with his sister Tristin and Adam Bastien. The 4th member alternated between a young lady named Kelley Jakle and Bastien's (future?) husband Jerome Bell. Adam and Jerome competed on The Voice together as either OneUp or OneUpDuo. I've seen their videos under both names.
I was so impressed with Ashley's alto start. I've never heard her sing in that range for an extended period. This one made me cry the first 37 times I watched it, it is absolutely gorgeous!! Great reaction!
The Spanish lyrics are from a version that's very popular in Puerto Rico and Latin America. I love it when Cesar sings in Spanish--his debut as a guest artist with VoicePlay before he joined was We're Good, and he did it in that cover too.
His voice changes when he things in Spanish. I love his voice and all it’s various moods, but there’s something very special about his voice when he’s singing in Spanish.
WTH??!!! Stop obsessing over Ashley's lower register. You are SO NOT a good reactor. You're nitpicking over the smallest things instead of appreciating the fine arrangement of this song.
That was just one thing I noticed, it's hardly obsessing. It just surprised me because I haven't heard her sing that low before. I do appreciate the arrangement of this song and Voiceplay did a great job, did you actually watch my reaction? Sorry you didn't like it, I don't claim to be everyones taste.
Cesar and Ashley having fun at an earlier date and now they are both so miserable. It's Spanish - both Cesar and Ashley were born with Spanish Cesar from Puerto Rico and I may be wrong but I think Ashley is originally or family is from Columbia. When I was young and in high school I had 4 yrs of Spanish. Over 50 yrs later, I remember but a little but love the sound of Spanish. VoicePlay had the closed caption if you want to listen to the translation. They have a really great friendship, more like brother and sister.
I am looking so forward to the new era Home Free. Adam Bastien ( Bass like the fish - Teen ) is a wonderful addition to the Home Free family. Home does ask Patrons to star in videos and send pictures or videos to feature in their videos every once in a while they really care for their fans
Not a replacement but similar pitch. Austin was a high tenor and I imagine Bastien (pronounced Bass-teen) has a similar sound. Rob (glasses) is the tenor so a little lower. Chance is the baritone/bass and Tim is the bass (but does have a 5 octave range so he can also sing in the tenor range. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. When Tim sings high Chance will cover bass for him. A really versatile group. Bastien has a nice voice. I think he’ll fit in fine. Good one Mike!
Bastien is a high tenor like Austin but has a style and energy very different. I like the jazzy bluesy sound to this song. Bastien chose this Bonnie Raitt cover to use for his introduction to the Home Fries. Can't wait for what comes next.
Home Free doesn't really have a lead singer. The person they feel sounds best with a part of a song does it. They often switch off during a song also. Like in their original " Understand " or their cover of " One Man Band. I love that about them.
Fantastic! Just like I knew it would be! I'm excited to see more of the energy and smiles Bastien brings to the group. They made a great choice for this addition to the group. I hope people realize he wasn't picked to replicate Austin . No one could do that. He was picked for the great things he can add. You can see how comfortable they seem together. Love Home Free! Yes it’s a remake and while it sounds great the first video matches the lyrics a little better. Funny story with this song; years ago Tim was working for a guy that wanted him to write a country song and Tim didn’t want to but the boss insisted. So, Tim went home, got drunk and wrote this in one night. It’s so funny and is a hit for him. Tim, Austin and Chance are the songwriters of the group. They are really good songwriters too. Try Dive Bar Saints album and the So Long Dixie album for lots of originals.
This is a brilliant cover, smooth and sexy, and DeeJay is as superb as always. Sorry to say it but the sound quality of the VP video as you show it is definitely inferior to your video. It barely sounds like them. I've heard the original of this many times now and Geoff never sounds like a frog. I don't know what your doing to it but it sounds awdful. You should know by now that VP never copy a song. They make it their own. Never second guess VP, they rarely do what you expect.
I will suggest that you have them at full volume, they are softer than your volume. I prefer to have everything about the same, but maybe that's just me. Deejay is always great to hear, his voice is amazing! If you expect them to do a copycat version you will always be disappointed.
Thanks for your input, yeah I started it with the volume right down for some reason and then turned it up, but obviously not to full. I'll try to start these videos with my volume at full from now on, but it's still a learning experience for me for now. I think my opinion may have seemed a little harsh but I just went in with such high expectations. Despite that they still did an amazing job, and Deejay was great in this one.
Geoff added the words and music of all the bridge sections starting Big Iron, to make the song less repetitive, as it was just eight verses originally. And of course he has changed some of the music too.
Love everything Geoff and VoicePlay. Yes he did a short and we begged and begged and begged some more. He gave in and gave us this. Grew up hearing Marty Robins. Great story telling songs.
@Broomrider1492 Geoff loves his old timey storytelling songs, he's done quite a few lately. I could be wrong but this is the first time I've heard him do a full version of one of his shorts. It took me by surprise at first, thanks for listening 👍.

This one takes me back over a half century. You can show the video for both Geoff's soloes as well as VoicePlay's videos. They not only work on audio, but have worked with Disney and Universal and set the stage. They are known as the Theatre Kids. I really want to see the video when you are reacting, please?
