Overproduced songs with layers of instrumentation, compression, limiting, reverb, and what not, are nice. I enjoy listening to them, but they're like a pretty girl with too much makeup. The true beauty of a song can only be heard after you scrub away all the layers down to its naked essentials, just a voice singing and the barest acoustic melody, exposing the truth, the heart of song. Hearing this is a bit like hearing Johnny Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt". Thank you!
