Ok I know there are other songs that say “get along” but he definitely is saying “get a lone” little doggie. He can’t get a single little doggie; he can’t even get one that’s small. Right?
This is what I hear: "Oh I can't get a long little doggie, I can't even get one that's small, I can't get a long little doggy, I can't get a doggy at all." Thanks for watching!
September and the rest of the Autumn of 1982, Room 266, Hemlock Dormitory, Mansfield State College, Mansfield, Pennsylvania, USA, the college radio station WNTE, 89.5, played this all the time. I was twenty years old and became enchanted with the melody and the lyrics and I wondered where is this mystical and magical Papeete and Marquesas? Then I saw the video and that orange cap he wears? Ever since then to this day I call my own cap just like the one he wore in the video my Stephen Stills cap, tho' mine is my preferred color of blue. I also decided back then in 1982 that Someday Maybe I Was going to travel to Papeete and the Marquesas. It became a quest for me to complete the journey. Forty-two years later and here I finally am with my wife and son who, ironically is twenty years old, like I was when Ii first heard the song. I am listening to Stephen Stills singing “Southern Cross” as I type out this comment in Papeete, 18 June 24. This Sunday, the 23rd, we will be in the Marquesas for ten days. All I can say is, “Wow”. I still cannot believe I am here. Thank you Stephen Stills for inspiring me to come here.
As a kid in the Sixties I loved this woman's voice, never knew what she looked like until the Woodstock concert on channel 13.When I finally saw her,I was truly in love.
I returned from Australia a couple of weeks ago visiting family in Victoria state. They live in the bush, no light pollution, our first night was spent gazing up at the southern sky with the southern cross clearly in sight. Nothing like it exists in the northern hemisphere. Crux is dominating yet welcoming, you look at it and think about the early explorers who used the southern cross as a navigation tool trying to find the southern land. I took a ton of pictures of the southern sky with the southern cross in all of them
Grew up with them (differently). Know their beginnings. Saw them several times as CSN&Y. Once at Woodstock(2). These souls will one time be saints. They might be already for all we know!!!
Look what they've done to my song, ma Look at what they've done to my song, ma It was the only thing I could do half right And it's turning out all wrong, ma, look What they've done to my song Look what they've done to my song, ma Look what they've done to my song, ma It was the only thing I could do half right Turning out all wrong, ma Look what they've done to my song Look what they've done to my brain, ma Look at what they've done to my brain Well, they picked it like a chicken bone And I think that I'm half insane, ma Look what they've done to my song Oh, I wish that I could find a good book to live in Oh, I wish that I could find a good book Well, if I could find a real good book I'd never have to come out and look at What they've done to my song Ils ont changé ma chanson, ma Ils ont changé ma chanson, ma C'est la seule chose que je peux faire Et ce n'est pas bon, ma Ils ont changé ma chanson But maybe, it'll all be all right, ma Maybe, it'll all be okay Well, if the people are buying tears Then I'm gonna be rich girl some day, ma Look what they've done to my song Look what they've done to my song, ma-ma-ma Look, look what they've done to my song You know, they tied it up in a plastic bag And then turned it upside down, oh ma-ma Look at what they've done Want to look at what they've done, oh ma-ma Look what they've done to my song
It's almost late at night on Easter Sunday! Felt like a good song to play to end the day. When Dorothy and her friends are back on the Yellow Brick Road, the shot of them approaching the Emerald City is an example of timeless cinema!
