So sorry for not posting in the description I will be sure to edit that. We use the ratio in the video on keeping feeders clean by a channel called Hummingbird Spot on RU-vid here. I don’t have my notepad with it written down on hand apologies, but that video will help you learn about the ratios and more! Hope this helps and thank you for watching
Ginger I am not sure, it may have been just yelling at me walking by! This group of youngsters has been so independent honestly - their parents taught them were the feeders were and they come back all the time now. Maybe it was yelling for a seed refill? 😂
Thanks for this shot. I am raising two Carolina Wren babies, and they are also black without the eyebrow stripe. Their nest that was easily accessible in my shed, was attacked by something when they were still nestlings. Two were out in the backyard grass, face down and deceased, and two were in the shed, but not in the nest. I took them because all mama bird was doing was crying in distress (I assume) on my deck, about 20 yards away. I put them in a shallow bowl with pieces of the nest to show her, but she was scared of me. I didn't want to put them back in the shed because I thought the attacker would be back for "seconds". The two deceased birds were not eaten or chewed, so I don't think it was a neighborhood cat ( my cats are 100% indoor only. ) A male house finch was flying into and out of the shed earlier. Could it have attacked the nest?
