I also have awful gps issues on the s24+. I don't get dropouts- just no signal unless wifi connected. When travelling I have to use my old phone instead. I have tje same problems with the fingerprint sensor too.
@Tech Guides, Actually i have the same gps issues. So i found a solution to it. Before i go somewhere where i require use of google maps, just restart phone. Believe me the trick worked. Recently got phone and i was scared that my phone is faulty. Wherever i used to go , maps was laggy and s24 plus used to show searching for gps. Just out of blue i thought of restarting phone and the issues were resolved. Now wherever i have to use google maps i just restart my phone before that and trick will last for just one day and then the problem of gps will come. Even though the trick is resolving problem but still spending a huge amount of money and what we get in return is trash. I bought s24 plus becoz i have to change my phone. I used it for 5 years. I knew exynos chipset may give me problem but still i bought. Now i just think i should have bought s23 plus which featured 8 gen 2. Exynos features network related problems but still exynos 2400 is good atleast. I just wish that s 24 plus (indian variant) should have atleast featursd 8 gen 3.
The whole point is not relevant about the finger print sensor due to the screen protector usage. Its ultrasonic type, not optical. With ultrasonic type you have to use UV glued tempered glass screen protector in order to make it work properly, which honestly i don't love, because its like permanent. Or at least very hard to change. With all the regular adhesive screen protectors it will never gonna work sorry. It messes up the ultrasonic fingerprint recognition. This is not new however, it was known way before when the samsung note 10 plus came to light back then.
I own S24, Battery backup is less, Exynos reputation is bad,but 2400 performs okay, Only problem Moisture alert happens once in while quite a headache To fix that if there is some charge in ur phone disable fast charging from setting - switch of phone- then charge Switch on wireless charging settings u never know when moisture alert will come
+The fingerprint needs to be saved without the screen protector and then 2 new AFTER the screen protector has applied. +For the Google Maps, 1.Go to Ram Usage / Clear it. 2.Reset your network settings only. 3.Restart your phone (off/on) and voila.
This is the worst phone I've ever had the camera is laggy photos are blurry when I try to take photos of kids the flash completely blinds them and they all have their eyes shut. Then when I take a selfish of my self with the flash it is so bright that it killed my pupils I couldn't keep my eyes open then my whole phone looked like it was on fire and the phone brightness bar went all the way up. I have to send this phone back. Also I can't get my messages to have a different notification sound. Every notification has the same sound they can't be separated. This phone has frustrated me to no end. My eyeballs still feel like they have been radiated what the heck. Once I had to upload my drivers licence it took me 20 shots they were dark and blurry even with flash on. Then the selfie frys your face off. Bluetooth is good and I haven't had the gps problem but I don't trust it to not give me the trouble.
The GPS issues are because of a Google Map's faulty update. Its been now more than a month and they still haven't fixed it. Either use another GPS application (like Here WeGo) or unistall updates from Google Maps in order to return it to a factory app. GPS works really good and fast in S24.
My gps is terrible, I'm actually planning to return the phone because it's not usable for me and might get me in safety issues on the road. I just bought it last week, I wish this had been posted earlier.
Yeah a return is likely the most sensible thing to do. I'm sorry for that, especially because I almost finished this video a couple of months ago but couldnt find the time to finalize it...
I have had this phone one week and have just discovered these gps issues today. You are correct, very unsafe and dangerous when you're relying on a simple feature to work and get you there safely.
I went to samsung and they told me the gps issue is across all the s24 series and there is a scheduled software update on 9th, September to fix the issue. They assured me that I can return the phone if the is not fixed by that update. Hopefully that works otherwise this has been the worst gps I have seen on a smartphone. I had to go back to using my old fold 3 for gps.
Mine works fine. I had no problems from the start (I bought it at launch) and my battery life is good. It lasts me more than a day. It is actually one of the best phones I ever ones.
@Tech-Guides Mine is fine. Sometimes it is also due to the quality of the screen protector. My first one was dreadful. I changed the brand and since I did it, it is perfect. Without any, it has always been great.
I've now removed the screen protector, still pretty hit or miss but maybe slightly better? Gotta wait for cooler weather because it seemed to NEVER work outside in cold weather
I have the S24 plus exynos and I have no problems at all. Everything works really well. The battery is bigger than the smaller s24 so my battery lasts well over 2 days with 10 hours on screen time and 15% left.
problem with GPS happen to me too two times in thev very bad time when i had to turn (google maps)..very frustrating. switched on waze and it worked fine so idk if thas device or software problem.
Absolutely. But I dont seem to be the only one with these issues judging from this 17 page thread on the Samsung forum: us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S24/GPS-location-very-unstable/td-p/2794889/page/17
In Tip 5 you didn't actually show us the .bashrc additions before sourcing it, luckily it's visible when we moved to Tip 6, but had me rewinding a couple of times to make sure I didn't miss something! Also the certbot example seems better done with a cronjob than a command, but I suppose some people may prefer more control!
You are a child 😅 I do exactly the opposite: Removal of all pre-install bash configuration, then remove all colored output, set TERM to vt100 (nowadays vt220 because of strange security changes), set ls to something with "-alrt" or "-alrtE" and be finished 😅
It's usually better to write separate scripts instead of adding functions/aliases into .bashrc. This removes the need to souce the file and keeps it more manageable.
#1 If you want to muck about with your prompt, why do it manually? Plugins exist for a reason. Personally I use Starship, and I am loving it. #2 and #4 are both solved easier and better by replacing ls with something more modern. eza is a popular one.
@@Tech-Guides See, that's the biggest problem I have with Linux daily driving. I have trouble even spotting potential for improvement, and if I want to improve a thing, sure, I can do it myself if I'm willing to wade through a bunch of archaic documentation. But trying to search for and find ready-made solutions is basically impossible.
Very nice video with useful content and well explained as well. Please, let me also add a feedback more than a critic. I didn't appreciated very much the music in the background when you talk, it's not very loud but to my taste it's a little bit disturbing. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, very good piece of content. Thanks.
Some people might want to consider typo correction aliases too, like "apt serach='apt search', gerp=grep" etc. Possibly with a "assuming you meant grep instead of gerp, continuing in 3,2,1.." wrapper for safety.
@@Tech-Guides Your 'c' is an alias to 'clear', whereas ^L that @jamesbond_007 is referring to is an alias to 'clear -x' in which you can still scroll up to see the ouptut. Check 'man clear' ;)
Just 'doomed scrolled' on to your video......excellent info here, great video. I don't usually bother with too many alias settings etc as I'm swapping between machines so much (and when they're not there you've forgotten the long way of doing it ;) However, some really good stuff here and I'm learned a few extra tricks from your video. Not sure about no 9..... s for redo last command with sudo? you didn't show how, so I guess you're writing a function or similar. Anyway, I do that with the lifesaver short cut sudo !! !! re runs the last command in history, so sudo !! runs last command in history with sudo :)
Write your alias list in a plain file and keep it on a keyring thumb drive, get on their machine, paste in your stuff at the bottom of their bash file, finish up your work, then go back and remove what you pasted in 🤷🏻♂️
Why not just use ^l (Ctrl-L) instead of making an alias for clear, that is what it does most of the time anyway, it is the control character for page break, in teletypes it would place your cursor on the top of the next paper fold (so you can rip off your current printout), but in graphic terminals it clears the screen. Originally you had to do an "echo ^l" for the effect, but libedit-based shells are smart enough to know what you intended.
I am not sufficiently lazy to use some of these aliases (like for sudo !!) but some of this definitely is handy, I am going to copypaste it. I like the alias to use rsync instead of cp for when you copy large files (like moving videos to another partition), I like the function to extract any type of archive, it is simple but very handy. For ls I have two recommendations: try out the program lsd (with icons for the type of files) and always use --group-directories-first, in my opinion that should be the default option.
I just upgraded my PC six months ago, very similar to this one.Only regret i have is for not using AMD CPU for my build. I have I9 13900K and i have not yet fix the problems with CPU issues regards to stability.I hope that the latest BIOS can fix that problem.I also have Sapphire 7900XTX and still running older drivers because of games crashing with new drivers. Very nice build with Torrent case,i like it.
