Today I went by again and there were two demolition guys there loading debris onto a dump truck. They kindly let me snag a piece of concrete with colored tiles attached. I think it was part of the Heian Jingu mosaic. It's a shame that got demolished, too.
This is since the Middle Ages. In Japanese Buddhism, it has been believed that ancestors return to this world on August 13th, the beginning of Obon, and return to the other world again on August 16th. Obon is a time to honor ancestors.
Can we talk abouthow impressive that lady on the bike was? @4:05 she has a pencil skirt suit on while carrying an umbrella and riding a bike in kitten hills.
Sir, I am not really sure if I can put this into words but I feel I should try and express my gratitude: For several months I have been very stressed, to the point that it endangered my life but recently I came across some of your videos of geiko and maiko and although I have no connection to Japan at all, I have found that it soothes my soul watching such skilled artists perform, even if "only" via your and others' videos. I have great respect and admiration for Miehina-san for her talent, dedication and elegance, and as mentioned, it has helped me enormously to deal with the stresses of my life that I can watch performances such as the one in this video. If at all possible, please thank her on my behalf for ......well, it sounds strange, but thank her, and thank you, for saving my life.
DTdkf.!
It's so amazing to see them walking absolutely gracefully in rain, while wearing kimono, geta, and full makeup. Oh they are just like beautiful dolls who came to live. ❤️ Only a Geisha can pull up this much grace while simply walking around ❤️..
Had a look at one of these in London but didn't buy it got back on my Norton and went home to Guildford soaked to the skin about 1964 got full licence and got a mini dry and warm at last
Thanks for the upload, some nice footage there. Just a small and friendly thing to aid dissemination of correct information, the archer at 5:00 is Japanese veteran from Nikko, the archer at 0:53 is American. As it is not a competition we are not competitors, perhaps participants, or simply archers/ riders. Feel free to remove this comment.
Walking slow prevents kick up of water into their kimono fabric. I imagine that they carry an extra pair of dry tabi socks and may not wear too precious of kimono in the rain. Silk hates water.
