Has he modified the clarinet like Shri AKC Natarajan? It sounds like the original clarinet. Can I get his mail id? How does he manage the instrument for producing Gamakas
Really quick, before every goes into detail about how much this dance offends them and is historically incorrect, read this. In 1847, Albertus Van Raalte migrated from the Netherlands to Western Michigan and founded the city of Holland. In a census from the 1990s, Holland, MI was shown to have MORE Dutch people than anywhere else in the United States. Our Tulip Time festival is not for tourism or to exploit Dutch culture, it is to honor and remember all of our Dutch ancestors. And because of that reason, extensive research has gone into the costumes that the Dutch Dancers wear. The costumes represent the many different provinces in the Netherlands- the ones in this video are mainly Urk, Staphorst, Middelburg, Friesland, Marken, and Volendam. Some of the costumes have added color to bring more life to the festival and the dance, but they are otherwise 100% authentic AND handmade. I personally have never seen or participated in the specific dance that is being performed in this video, I believe this group was simply warming-up and getting ready to perform the main dance (note the other dancers lined up behind and in front of them.) The dance that is widely performed at the Tulip Time festival is about 12 minutes long and quite different from the one in this video. Lastly, the reason that girls are wearing boy's clothing- These dancers are of highschool age and each group is selected from each highschool in the city. Most highschool age boys, OBVIOUSLY are not going to willingly dress up in costumes and clog dance in the street to lively music. The ONLY reason girls are wearing boys clothing is because this is a boy-girl partner dance, and not enough boys want to dance each year. So girls step in and take their place. No need to be offended, it's just to make up for a lack of dancers.
I remember playing like this in elementary, ohhhh myyy God lol. The memories xDDDD Now I'm going audition soon to hopefully do a jazz degree in university. :)
Ow, well I am not saying it doesn't exist. I just have never seen it happening in my town, They may do it in Amsterdam, but I don't live there so I wouldn't know. But it is nice to see though! :)
I can't believe people are saying that they suck... For Gods sake, they're only in elementary school, and for most of them this is probably their first year playing. Chill out and stop comparing your band to theirs.
LOL i'm actually from the Netherlands and I have never seen people clogdancing or whatever you call it in english in my town or country, though i'm proud to be dutch XD.
Holland was beautiful in the 60s and 70s when I was there; Hope College was real cool then; it was an entirely different place, ye Old Holland of yesteryear.
