The indigenous people of North America are a national treasure and should be treated as such. Although they are members of their own nations, these nations are protectorates of the United States of America and, thus, they are also citizens of the United States. They should be enjoying the full benefits of citizenship. Unfortunately, they do not. It is time for this systematic abuse to end. Reservations experience drug abuse rates, suicide rates, unemployment rates, drop out rates, poverty rates and hunger rates at many times higher than the national average. Education and medical care on reservations are substandard. This is unacceptable and must end. Right now there is a lot of attention being paid to the rights of minority groups. Black lives matter but so do the lives of our indigenous people. European explorers came into America and stole the land, purposefully ravaged tribes with disease, and attempted to forcefully obliterate the culture of the indigenous people of this land. The Native American population has suffered greatly. Who is standing up for the only people who have the right to say that they are American? The rest of us are displaced from other nations. I was born in America and am of mixed European and Native American descent. I honor my Native American heritage by speaking out in support of the only people in this country that know how to live in harmony with the planet and their fellow man. We have forced them to live in ways unnatural to their world view. They deserve better.
Walk tall with Russel means and John trudell.the world would have done well to listen and take heed of the message to respect the earth and our place in it.respect from Scottish brother
B.I.A. don't you blame for your problems I'm not your Indian any more You belong to Whiteman, weya, ha-ya-ya B.I.A. you can't change me, don't you try We don't want your Whiteman rules no more We can live our own way, ha-ya-ya, weya, ha-ya-ya. RIP Red Crow.
Saw the news about operation lady justice and for some reason this song popped in my head. Don’t know why. RIP Elder Westerman. May your wisdom continue to guide us through this strange time.
I worked for One Feather Enterprises in Phoenix, owned by our late, beloved Roy Track. In 1972, One Feather staged a concert with Mr. Westerman and XIT. Mr. Westerman was a gentle soul, funny and wisely intelligent. I miss both Him and Roy.
He was never a racist. That was BIA in the 70s. Things have changed. Treasure him for his bravery and inclusiveness. AND oddly enough people then were less divided and less racist than the nutty nonsense being stirred up today.
Que homem da tribo seguiria o Apsaalooke para que ele pudesse seguir o homem branco, nenhum que não fosse ninguém se eu quisesse seguir o homem branco, por que eu seguiria um Corvo, obviamente, eu não escolheria o homem branco então?
