Hey Will, great vid, thanks! Planning to check out some of this route. Would you mind telling me what the piece of music that you used near the beginning is? Hope your legs have recovered!
Back in the 80's I spent a lot of my working life on BN2 islanders operated by Loganair - Such a shame that the routes were lost to BA and then ditched... G- BJOP was my favourite ... Happy days!
I've walked most of those areas, returning to Avebury as often as possible. Great energy there 🌀 I was looking out for Alton Barnes and Alton Priors, with their interesting history, church and well but you must've past by them. By the way, in regard to your 'walking like an old lady' remark, old men do too 🤣😂
The camera never recorded any noise for some reason, so would just be a silent video otherwise. Plus I had no means to record the intercom back then either.
@@willbertdsgc Suspected that was the reason, nevertheless an excellent video, must be a real privilege to fly such an iconic aircraft, keep em coming :)
Sikorsky recognized North Slope Borough in March 2017 for its critical role in executing life savings missions and ensuring safety with the S-92 helicopter. Sikorsky President Dan Schultz presented the recognition to North Slope Borough Director April Brower and team members in a private ceremony at the 2017 Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo show. NSB is located above the ARTIC CIRCLE and experiences some of the HARSHEST COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS in the world, with temperatures as LOW AS -55 DEGREES CELSIUS WITH THE WIND CHILL. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, NSB has a total area of 94,796 square miles of which 88,695 are land and 6,101 are water, thus the need for a LONG-RANGE, ALL-WEATHER CAPABLE AIRCRAFT.
My father was a PPL, we flew into RNAS Yeovilton to see the museum, we had a little van with follow me signs on it leading us to the back entrance of the museum.
I don't think it went that way. If it did you would have dead pilots before the chopper got started, let alone crewed, warmed up and airborne. They were already in the air.
I was on board the Ark doing Marine Engineer Officer steam training prior to my submarine courses and watched the Buccaneer being pushed off the stern. The a/c had been stripped of all valuable items and engines. It was meant to be part of a flight safety film. Not sure if there was a final version. The Ark was an experience I wouldn’t have missed for the world. I still have a made to measure pair of shoes crafted by the on board Chinese cobbler. Also the Chinese Laundry used to starch our white Engineer Officer overalls until very politely asked not to do so! Watching us struggling to get into our starched ovies was a sight to behold!!
In world war II aircraft that were too damaged to continue to fight were stripped of parts and then dumped overboard. I am not a Navy man so I don't know if it's tradition that continues, but aircraft going overboard is usually intended and sometimes accidental.
Not now. A damaged aircraft would be stored in the hangar and returned to port for repair. In WW2 they could do it as it was more important that the CV stayed on station, replacement aircraft were constantly being shipped forward to replace losses by escort carriers acting as transports.
The Aircraft Carrier Experience is the best museum exhibit/display I've ever seen, huge in scale but beautifully thought out and detailed. One of the few AV displays I've ever seen in the wild that seamlessly meshes in with the 'real'.
I think its a pile of expensive xxxx.....and I did 22 years in the RN (FAA) still play now as a civi from time to time....just my opinion each to there own
It wouldn’t of seen much action anyway due to the rough seas even the Argentine navy had issues launching aircraft due to the weather before they withdrew
I don’t think so no, not yet anyway. These aircraft will be decommissioned in September this year so who knows, they may become available to civilians like Jet Provost aircraft are!
