Hilariously this is probably the most accurate portrayal of the CIA on film😂 they’re just regular guys trying to make sense of a totally absurd situation
Long before he snagged an Oscar for Whiplash Mr. Simmons was killing this brief role in Burn...he was always a treat to watch if the role was a good one but here he was the best thing about this screwball Coen comedy (other than The Closet Scene.)
I haven't learned anything of any real value over the last 5 or 6 years.. I have learned that I am absolutely finished with this nonsense. I have learned that I want to live by a beach and not own a computer or cell phone. I have learned that I really don't like that many people. And most importantly I have learned not to trust or listen to anything being taught to you in the form of a RU-vid video..
The writing here is absolutely top notch. The tension that gets build up and then relieved constantly while pushing the narrative forward is like two grown men on a seesaw.
The funniest thing of this film, all the other characters are running around paranoid shitless that the government is coming for them. When in reality the CIA is just watching and hoping they don't have to get involved because it would mean more work they'd have to do that they'd rather not do. I also love how cooperative their relationship is. He's not hiding anything from JK Simmons, and Simmons doesn't get mad, but let's him know what to do. Envious employee-boss relationship goals there.
