This is one of the most interesting video about my hometown I have seen on RU-vid. While you don’t focus on particular places your insight is so much more interesting. I love you noticed that we love dogs and dog owners keep the city clean of their poops. I also like you decided to use the public transport and dedicated part of the video to make it easier for other visitors to start using it. To travel to Vienna you could also use train or a fast boat but RegioJet bus was a good choice thanks to the easy booking system and close proximity to your apartment. The rectangular box houses look really bad but people living inside are nice and the suburbs are safer than the downtown where you stayed. Thank you for the video and good luck with your journeys!
Wow your comment just made my day! I'm so glad you liked the video. I really enjoyed my month in Bratislava and want to come back and explore more of Slovakia.
How was the border crossing with the rental car? Did it require any specific documents to pass the border to Argentina? And did you have insurance while drivibg in Argentina?
The border crossing was really straightforward and we didn't have any complications. There are two different windows you go to inside the border crossing building. We just followed the flow of people and if we went to the wrong window people would point us in the right direction. I know we had to show the car registration but I honestly don't know what other papers we had to present. I just took the papers out of the glove box and handed them to the agent and he'd take whatever document he needed and pass the rest back to me. We told our rental car company beforehand that we were going to cross the border so they could provide us with the necessary paperwork for crossing.
I definitely recommend that you try the big one from student's chocolates, figaro chocolate filling, MILA, Horalka, LINA biscuits, bananas in chocolate, green and yellow packaging, cocoa nibs, try all the flavors related to alcohol, so try the pine, but also the chilled beer, SARIS, PLZEN, KRUSOVICE and make another video as you liked 🤪😁👌
Whoa ok I need to come back so I can try all of these! I did see a lot of banana in chocolate bars but I thought they might taste gross so I didn't buy any 😆
Thank you for sharing the cost details. Where could one shave off some expenses? Family of two adults and three kids here. we first started planning for a balkans trip back in 2018/2019 which somehow got delayed. Here we are and now I am targeting 2027. Is camping a reasonable option ?
My two biggest expenses were the rental car and the lodging, so I would think the best way to cut back on expenses would be the lodging. I did see some nice campgrounds, but that was mostly in Slovenia. I don't know much about camping in the other countries but I did a little google search and it looks like there are options. You could even mix it up a bit with camping some days and apartments/hotels on other days??
@@roamingwithalyssa Thank you. Did you explore the option for mixing it up with the transport ? I.e. using public transport locally and rent as needed and then use bus/train to cross borders? Or do you think having a car gives you the most flexibility to visit off the beaten path ?
@@aamert I knew I wanted a car with me the whole time because I like the flexibility of going wherever I want whenever I want so I didn't do any public transportation. But when I was doing research I did see that it's common to get around by bus so I'm sure it's certainly doable. I don't think trains are really a thing in the balkans. If you are able to afford it I would personally go for a rental car because it gives you so much more freedom. You can leave when you want, stop when you want, pull over to take in views or explore a town if you want, etc. I'm not sure which countries you plan on going to, but the reason I flew into Slovenia and got a car there is because (at the time) it was the cheapest option for me as far as flights and rental prices go.
Wow! Did you see anything interesting or creepy in there? I would have loved to explore inside. They had it boarded up so well and too many people walking around to do it though.
You need to look more with your google translator miss :D ... some cheeses are made mostly from cow milk, but some cheeses are also made from goat milk, so be on the lookout next time :D
@@roamingwithalyssa Moved from Manhattan about 4 years ago ,I have friends who bought a house here and some land that it is on.From a 24 hour city to a ghost town gee! what's wrong with this picture, lol 😆.
Thanks for this info. It looks like you can drive inside/within the park itself. Do you need a permit for this? And where do you get this permit? At the park itself on the same day?
Yes, you can certainly drive in the park. You don't need a special permit to drive in there, all you need to do is pay the entrance fee for each person. You can do that online beforehand and they'll email you the entrance ticket. I believe the ticket is good for 72 hours.
Do you call this bad food? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YQ0d7rwgHwg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6R2ptfofcnM.html Where did you eat? In the trash cans? If you don't know where or what to eat, don't blame the country. But to be honest, I watched your pancake soup video, and you said Germans were lucky because they could buy their pancake strips from the supermarket... Supermarket pancake strips in the pancake soup? From that moment, I knew you had no idea what you were talking about.
When you buy beer for 35cents and cheapest crap and make a video is not reasonable plus shame on you throwing food to the trash. Here in Vienna there are homeless every square meter and they would be happy to eat that pastry with non existent custard plus kids I saw with my own eyes in African slums would be grateful for everything you trashed at least have some decency and don’t say that on a video.Jeez
I buy and sell rebuildable auto parts. I've been in all those buildings many many times. If you had driven around a bit more you would have discovered around 5-10 thousand salvage cars and trucks.
Nice video, this looked fun. - I did a similar concept road trip but through central Europe. Drove from Munich -> Innsbruck -> Bologna -> Lubljana -> Zagreb -> Budapest > Vienna (Bratislava -> Munich. And then a train to Prague. I'm thinking of doing a balkan trip involving Serbia and Romania (for 3 weeks) but probably won't bounce around from city to city since it's such a short time.
Wow that central Europe road trip you did sounds great! Yes, bouncing from city to city is tiring. I'm on a 3 week baltics road trip right now and moving towns every 2-3 days. Way too fast!
Alyssa you're hilarious and travel very similarly to me. I love supermarket hauls. I'd love to maybe catch you on your travels someday I'm taking my mum and dad on a dubrovnik-Bosnia and possibly Montenegro road trip for a week (leaving Sunday). Your videos are super helpful ♥ I was thinking maybe 2 days mostar 3 days Sarajevo 1 day dubrovnik. But if we are spending too long in Sarajevo or mostar I could try and get us into Montenegro... Any tips? X
Wow thanks I'm glad you've found them helpful! That would be fun to meet up someday...always great to meet likeminded travelers 😄. You guys will have a great time! I actually did the opposite and spent 3 nights in Mostar and 2 nights in Sarajevo haha. But I don't think you can go wrong either way. There is more to see in Sarajevo but I liked the vibe of Mostar better. As far as Dubrovnik goes, I was there about ten years ago so my memory isn't so fresh. I remember it was quite crowded. I really liked Montenegro in general and thought Kotor was beautiful. There will be more to see and do in Dubrovnik of course, but I prefer less crowds even if it means less attractions which is why I would pick Kotor. If you wanted to squeeze Montenegro in you might consider cutting a day in Sarajevo and spending 2 nights in Dubrovnik instead. It's a couple hours drive to Kotor so you could fit in a day trip there?? Or a night in Dubrovnik and a night in Montenegro? I don't know if that's helpful or not...just my 2 cents!! And I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you settle on...they're all great places! Let me know if you have any other questions 😄
Amazing adventure! I’d like to do exactly what you’re doing-circumnavigate the Adriatic to absorb as much culture and history as possible. Thanks for sharing.
I'm solo road-tripping in the Balkans for 17 days in October and this was super helpful! What were some of your longest drives? I'm landing in Albania but want to see as much of the region as I can, including Slovenia and Romania. Am I biting off more than I can chew? Or should I really dive deep into just a few countries? 🤘
I'm glad you found it helpful! Wow a 17 day road trip will be fun! I personally would focus on seeing a smaller area like Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia. I know it's tempting to fit in as many places as you can, but I think it would feel quite tiring to be racing from place to place. A lot of times the drives took longer than planned, and driving in that region is tiring in general because you always have to be on alert due to bad roads and crazy drivers. I think you will enjoy yourself more and get more of a feel for the places you go if you stick to just a few countries. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@roamingwithalyssa so I shouldn’t have just reserved 14 hotel rooms in 7 different countries 🫠. Thanks for the info. Really digging this roadtrip series!
Alyssa, You have the best post. I have a quick question. Why does it take so long for you to post? Is it a Youbtube thing? Your stories are really amazing. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!! Well, I wish I could post really consistently but I just have not had any free time lately to work on my videos 😒. I'm going to try to get back on track though!
In Slovakia or Czechia if you like to taste real distillate (distilled from real plum, pear w/e) and not alcohol with added artificial flavour, you need to buy product which has ending with -ica or -ice (e.g. Slivovica/Slivovice). There is regulation in place that alcohol with artificial flavour cannot be named with that ending like your "Slivka". So you bought cheapest crap you could find which is not even from plum.
Interesting, thanks for the info! Yes I knew it was going to be cheap tasting but I only wanted a little sample sized bottle and that was the only one I could find 😆
“Music in Bosnia is on another level “ 😂 loved that line , traveling out there next week ,, which road you take M6 ? Does that go along side a river ..
Hey! Sorry have been busy, finally get a chance to check out ur vids. Like this one. Had to laugh when u said u hope that is pepper on those eggs 😂 Storm season here has been so bad I’ve not even filmed anything
Love to see your video. How much is the price per day to rent a small car for a Balkans road trip? Is it very costly if the pick and drop location is different?
Well it would really depend on where you pick it up and who you rent with, but for my rental with the taxes and border crossing fees and everything else, it was around 30 euros a day. I also had an automatic transmission which costs more than if you rented a manual. I considered a one-way rental but it would have added at least a few hundred extra euros to the cost!
Super cool! Amazing storms! That huge one rotating would have been an absolute monster if it formed into a tornado! I loved your reaction to the flash flood! 😂 I'm glad you finally got to see one in action! 👍👍
Well, we weren't sure how that was going to go, but they ended up not charging us anything. So either they just didn't pay attention to the dents or they didn't care 😄
Good to see some urban exploration in Bratislava, visiting here and would love to see some things other than the usual tourist things 😀 you have a new subscriber !
Wow thanks! Ok if you're into urban exploration, Slovakia is like a treasure trove. If you have enough time and a car to explore outside of Bratislava, there are some really cool abandoned places to see there.
Your lighting was too cool! Ok, I realize they wouldn't be interested as they produce that via computer, but I would farm those lighting videos out to Hollywood studios to see if they would be interested in buying your footage. Oh, I am pretty sure that crank on the box was part of a can opener.
Yeah it was pretty amazing! Even more so in real life...only captured a fraction of the lightning we saw that night. Hmmm that's interesting about the can opener.
@@roamingwithalyssa Your more than welcome. Hey, do you have a PO box? I found something for you, that you might like when making your spaghetti soup I hope you would like. Or would Chris forward it to you if I send it to them.
