Possibly the worst video I’ve seen not only have you no idea how it works but you got a drill out to unscrew the cover omg absolutely not the way to service anything
For a start, it's not a drill it's on low power screwdriver design for working on small electronic equipment after working in the electronics industry for over 30+ years, I would agree that I don't have a clue what I'm doing , perhaps you can do with better job , I look forward to watching your video on how to repair one of these. Thank you.
I Also noticed the incoming live Cable was connected to the ring on the fuse holder not the base meaning you could get electrocuted as you unscrewing the fuse the green wire should be the incoming so when you remove the fuse there is not an exposed live conductor
your a god send I've been looking for literally a year or so for a video explaining why my vac had started making a racket! just followed your video outside in the workshop and got my vac back to new in 30 minutes! really appreciate the video gained a sub from me!
I never knew something like this existed I never needed a radio Nor do i particularly like Lego never got in to it But apparently im on a search for a radio now
Yes it will but what I was aiming with this video was to do this without using the specialist tools that were sitting to the right of me . Normally I would use flux, solder paste and a hot air station, but my aim with this video was to build it with tools that the average amateur might have to hand , I believe it's important for new people to get into this trade of electronics at the amateur level and do you understand it's not a scary or difficult as it may come across when you see somebody using all the fancy tools .
Do yourself a favour and use an ap like electronics tool kit, it'll tell you any SMD resistor values from the number on them, and it also does a lot, lot more, like regular resistors by band colours, inductor values, IC pinouts, etc... It's invaluable when you want to know something like this at the drop of a hat without the need to break out the multimeter. Quick tip, for SMD components, tin one pad, use a tweezers to place the component and reflow the tined pad to the component and adjust as needed. Then solder the other end of the component. For ICs do the same thing but solder two pins at opposite ends of the IC, then solder all the other pins in between.
defiantly worth a try , i have hot air that i would normally use but i aim to do the video's in a way any one can , i will try tinning one end the next one i do thanks for the tip
Hello there, fun work to watch. This is Luz from PCBWay, and currently, we'd like to offer some PCBs to contribute your daily work. Feel free to circle back telling us what you think!
I've just bought a non functional 1710, no preamp output, quite cheaply. I'm hoping for a switch issues and a a recap to bring it back to life. I hope it's a relatively easy fix as I want to use it as part of my home studio.
I would check to see all the valves are glowing as a starting point whilst it will not tell you that they are definitely good if they're not going there definitely bad , if all of them are not going, you've lost the heater power , the other thing I would advise would be cleaning all of the switches and potentiometers before getting into it too deeply , ask quite often oxidation in switches and potentiometers can cause quite interesting issues
I've been using one of these to generate audio for my AM radio AI upscale project. The fact that the range is so short is actually somewhat helpful for testing different kinds/degrees of interference.
Roberts, along with Hacker and Grundig, were regarded as the finest portable radios back then, so not surprising that it sounds so good. Obviously built to last too. Unlike anything you can buy now.
at the time of recording this i was on a farm an its to drown out the background noise , newer video's dont have the backing as i have found software to remove / reduce the background noise , as a few comments have mentioned it
Hi! I was wondering if the fan was pulling air into the projector, or if it was blowing air out. I have an identical model and I had to take it apart to repair, but now I'm not sure which way the fan is supposed to go back in. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I had this SAME problem. I tried to explain it's a durability issue, too, but B&O basically told me to F off and gave access to discount, refurbished equipment. I am not likely to buy from them again.
My argument to them is that it was NOT designed to be a travel speaker, that this was an obvious flaw. Someone is going to drop it. That's what happens when you travel, so it kindof exposes a lack of foresight of the designers. They could care less, of course.
Hi all Just a quick note the damage on the bottom and back happened when it hit the deck after electrocuting me , ask because infantry flailing on my arm .
This video saved my life. I’ve had the vac since 2017 or 2018, use it all the time. But at the jobsite I’m currently at, the home owners have two German shepards and I’ve been sanding oak stair treads. So wicked fine dust and dog hair. Vac wasn’t happy. Took apart and stuck a coat hanger down each tine. Purrs like a kitten now.
Nice video... I'm trying to stick Windows on one... any idea which drivers are the newest yet stable? Using the boot camp version seems to work, but they are very old... but the latest AMD drivers caused constant crashing... I know there are several version in between Apple's last bootcamp version and the last AMD... but it would be nice to know which one to use. I've already wasted hours restoring it 2 different times after killing it with various newer drivers.
nice one...but what caused the issue in the end? my 6,1 never turn on after a run. got pretty hot but behaves normaly...after a forced switch off, it never came back alive. diassembled everything, gave it a good clean and repaste gpu's and cpu...going to try with the coin cell next.
Nice work, and good video - no silly wavering the camera about. A few things I noticed ... It's weight, by the way you had to drag it around. I was surprised that it had speakers from the side panels. And, no tape lifter? Yikes, more tape head wear? All that said, a classic. Thanks for the uploading of this video!
