My channel is about Working wood and Metal with restored English Kit from what i believe is the zenith of woodworking machine manufacture. Much of what I have/use are Pattern maker machines that are older than than I. Pattern machines were use to make the wood casting patterns for the industry of making molds for sand cast. Made in a time when things were made to last forever. This industry is all but gone as patterns are no longer made in wood. Never will wood working machines be made to this same level or grandeur. This is how i build and live so they are just perfect for me.

Its my duty to save them and give them value again by using them to build with. I could find no other way to get this relation to machine tools with what is being sold today. They are giving me back my connection to the craft.

Long live British Kit.

Great content for people wanting to actually learn. It sometimes bewilders me that channels like this only has 86K subs but doorknobs pseudo woodworking channels like StumpyNubs have close to a million. The contents here are great knowledges only a craftsman that has done it for thousands of times can pass down and explain efficiently to you.

I’ve always loved this kind of machinery. It’s the very reason I love shoguns. There is the old adage “it ain’t a church”. In this case no, it’s not. It’s something made from wood that actually does something amazing rather than merely try to amaze. (it’s also kinda a church of its own though)

Nice one Jack! Would you mind making a video of your custom addition to the sliding carriage? On my PK, I only have the quadrant so can only use it at the 45 and 90 forward position. I have been wanting to add the facility for a clamp of some sort as well……..
@jackEnglishmachines
@jackEnglishmachines 3 дня назад
yes, that is a shame that the rear connection of the table is not half inch 12 British standard Whitworth it's 5/8 British standard Wentworth, but that's because it was a big cast-iron table that went across the back. I simply bought some tap and dies to make pins to accommodate that hole and made long bolts to hold clamps in the threaded portions of the table

Amazing. A new video about riving knives, which is exactly the problem I have now. Just inherited a beautiful JET JWSS 10CS, but was very disappointed to discover a riving knife was never designed into the machine to begin with. Just discovered a company called Shark Guard that may have the appropriate solution, unless you have other ideas, Jack.
@jackEnglishmachines
@jackEnglishmachines 4 дня назад
although I don't have any experience with shark guard, they have been around for a couple years, which is an indication. They might be a good service for saws that are not equipped.

Great stuff as always. I use a table as far less than I used to but everyone, except my personal job site table saw, has always had the knife removed. I always hear "it just gets in the way" but I fail to understand what it possibly gets in the way of other than a kick back.

@jackEnglishmachines Begs the question....Why? What are you making that requires them? My brother runs his finishing biz with one. All it's good for is ripping layup strips for curved hand rail.....little kerf.
@jackEnglishmachines
@jackEnglishmachines 3 дня назад
@@deanl6613 well let's see. I have one over by the woodstove and it helps me cut up little scraps in the winter at a very convenient location, but it is set up nice with repeatable stops to do tenon work. then I have another one that is a ship saw where the table doesn't tilt, but the whole saw tilts and the table remains level, which is really great for cutting parts that have a constantly changing angle such as the nose of a canoe keel. I then have a high Tashi Saw, with a 3 inch wide blade for cutting veneer for my Stave core doors. And then I have the big 30 inch that allows me to do bigger curved work because the table is the size of a table saw table and lastly, I have a metal cutting Bandsaw which is also rather useful.

perhaps a sensationalized word, but it is illegal for manufactures to produce this type of cutter for sale and has been since 1998. in the wrong hands, it can snap the cutter, but in the right hands is perfectly safe.
