Any ideas on where to locate a pair of OEM new, or used refurbishable, or aftermarket side covers for a 1975 JX like yours? I live in Wimberley, Texas, USA. I own one of these, although this model was never sold in the USA. It is considered an extremely rare bike here. I bought it on Ebay 10 years ago as a backup parts bike for my 1975 CB125S, as it was listed as an S. I bought it through the listing and had it shipped across the country to me. Upon delivery I noticed that it was not the same as mine in a few minor ways like the muffler, smaller rear sprocket, a seemingly mismatched seat, but was too busy to investigate the matter. Recently I finally figured out what it is, a JX. The 125S tank on it does not fit properly and leaves a two inch gap between it and the seat, which I initially thought was due to a mismatched seat. I have found an aftermarket 2 gallon 19.5 inch long tank in Great Britain that will take care of that. What I cannot locate are side covers. I have looked at overseas suppliers and found nothing. What was bought by me as a backup parts bike, sold by a previous owner who did not understand what a rare bike he had, is now slated to live on, even if I have to fabricate alternative side covers of some sort. It needs very little other than what I mentioned above. Thanks for any ideas. Nice bike!

@@bearsgarage5190 Thank You. Those links are great. Several side covers available at this time. I had assumed there were overseas resources to acquire parts for the JX, as it is an iconic bike worldwide, except for in the US. I see they have fuel tanks as well, but in pretty rough condition. I find the Tank and cap design atrocious and can see it as a serious point of failure. The screw on cap is in a nice depresion, which would otherwise be a bad idea, as water could pool around the cap.... except for the fabulous hinged and clamping lockable cap cover. Too many Honda engineers at the time focusing on complex solutions to simple matters, for job security? Seems the hinge is flimsy and the locking mechanism also subject to deterioration over the decades, from pictures I have seen. I will stick with an aftermarket tank for now and keep my eyes open for if a very good condition original tank comes available in the future.
Nice sound recording. I’ve owned two LM III’s. Currently have LM V. The 950 big valve engine is significantly more powerful, especially between 2500 and 4500 rpm’s. This is where the 850 motor wasn’t so good. Also, the later bikes shifted much better from 1st to 2nd. But the biggest annoyance of the III was it’s too far forward foot rests and the spindly ft end. Both addressed on the 1000’s. On my last III I installed a Marzocci Strada 38 mm ft end. It was magic. It transformed the bike. Good luck finding one these days. Anyway, shortcomings notwithstanding, I dearly loved my LM III’s. FWIW, I still ride my 1990 LM 1000. It still makes me happy every time I ride it. It’s like a living, breathing bearing. Like having a friend along for the ride. Thanks for posting and enjoy the ride.

I had one from 1983 to 1992 for more than 100.000 km. i loved it very much. What I see in the video is that I like more the original handlebars and that the engine does not feel comofortable below 3.000 RPM when it has to pull. You must always make sure to switch to the right gear before a turn and let it glide around with its huge flywheel-mass. If you know counter-steering and give it enough RPM the LM III is a wunderful touring bike. Bring it to 150 km/h on a country road and fly along all day.
@@hodaka1000 It is wonderful! It is the first model of SR. i saw your video It's a very beautiful SR. The SR with disc rear brakes was not released in Japan.
@@bearsgarage5190 Yamaha sold the SR500 in Australia from 78 to 81 the rear discs were only on the 78 and 79 models they were both black with gold pinstripes I've had it for seven years, it had 62,000ks on it when I bought it and I've done another 80,000 Odometer reading is now 142,000ks
@@bearsgarage5190 It handled great but the engine didn't have great top end, It didn't have the lower cowling, I put Bub exhaust on it, it sounded great but I think the Monza was actually faster!
@@bearsgarage5190 I had the V50 Monza back in the 80's when the Kawasaki Ninja was popular, they always wanted to race, I said I pick the road and we will see, on a curvy road they could never keep up, it handled extremely well, it was only 350 lbs. The rear end started to make a lot of noise, and thats why I traded it.
the bike is very nice and the supertrap sound amazing...ride motorcycles in Europe for about 30 years...i like your ride and the how you change the gears up and down...nice music
Thank you for watching my video. This is a rural road in Japan. It is a road that passes through a small mountain called Mt. Kanpuzan. I often go there because it takes about 30 minutes from my house.
@@bearsgarage5190 Love the Velo. I also have Moto Guzzi, and a BMW. Great bikes. I have an MZ Skorpion, too. BIg singles make fantastic road machines. I'd love to see a video on your Velocette. That's a dream bike for me.
@@velofish I think MZ Skorpion seems to be fun to ride. I have been riding the YAMAHA SRX600 for a short time. I want to run Velocette again in the near future.
