First album with Phil Collins as singer was Wind and Wuthering (blood on the rooftops is on that album). A trick of the tail and Wind & wuthering are both fantastic
This man was simply a vessel through which this mastery flowed. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert a few times, once spending 3 hours with him in his last new year's eve concert before he unfortunately died. It was one of the BEST experiences of my life for certain!
The 1st album featuring Phil and Steve was Nursery Crime. The singer was Peter Gabriel, and Phil played the drums, but he did sign some chorus in some songs, at least he did when they played live. Also, there’s a song in Selling England by the pound that’s sang by him. Peter left after The lamb lies down in Broadway, the previous album to A trick of the tail. So from then on, Phil was the main singer and drummer (in studio albums). For lives, he had another drummer, Bill Bruford at ‘76s and then Chester Thompson ‘77 (maybe in later ‘76 too idk with too much precision), That for the prog era, in the 80s idk who the drummer was at lives. Phil did play drums too, in the instrumental sections of songs, so if you look any live after Pete’s gone, you’ll actually see 2 drum kits on stage. Sadly Steve left the band after the Wind and Wuthering, so from then on they started to migrate to the pop songs that are played on the radio from time to time.
Duane Allman: Lead Guitar, band founder and bandleader Gregg Allman: Hammond organ, vocals Dickey Betts: Lead guitar, vocals Berry Oakley: Bass guitar, vocals Jai Johanny Johansen: Percussion Butch Trucks: Percussion Gregg was the normal lead vocalist, but Dickey and Berry had their turns, too.
Just to help you with who's who on this album: Phil Collins - drums, percussion, lead and backing vocals Steve Hackett - electric guitar, 12-string guitars Mike Rutherford - bass guitar, bass pedals, 12-string guitar, backing vocals Tony Banks - pianos, synthesizers, Hammond organ, Mellotron, 12-string guitar, backing vocals
One of finest and most beautiful of Genesis. One of my top 10 songs from them. Those 12 strings are gorgeous, and the outro from Tony is awesome, etherial and celestial. Magical music. With this song I always know why Genesis is my favorite band ever. First album on which Phil sings as the lead singer. You're so lucky, so many jewels to discover, on this album and others.
Mr Ruiz, if you want to hear Steve Hackett’s masterpiece on classical guitar, listen to A Midsummer Night’s Dreams with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. 🤩🤘🏻

Trick of the Tail is a great album. Dance on a Volcano and Los Endos was how they ended the concerts for some time…although I remember one tour when they started with Dance on a volcano which confused the hell out of everyone. Mad Man Moon and Ripples are going to blow your mind!
To be honest I think you’re going to love the whole album, A trick of the tail, is not just my favourite Genesis album, but my favourite album of all time. Ripples is in a similar vein on the album. Warms my heart to see you experiencing and enjoying Genesis. Looking forward to more.
"With your consent we can experiment further still." Nice thing to say when the frontman left, and band did not know how they will be received. At least thats how I like to think of it 😂. Selling England and this are perhaps the best for me. Genesis did not drop the bar until Steve Hacket left.
Those are my two favorite albums. He really should listen to the entire Trick of the Tail album because of how it reuses different melodies and then brings them all together in Los Endos.
SRV is the greatest Guitarist of all time. Hands down. Music flowed out of him. It was unrehearsed, straight from the hip. He was music, his hands and fingers. Man, Stevie was the Music.
Kid A is a treasure. To me, it isn't the masterpiece that OK Computer is, but still an absolute treasure. National Anthem is my personal favorite off this album. It is ok to say Thom was sad, Radiohead fans love a sad Thom. Sad Thom gives us amazing music.
First time I have heard this version, nice, I like both versions, just a little different. I heard that Frank didn't play a set lead, he jammed every time.
Although Keith and Greg are no longer here, Carl Palmer is still hammering the skins at the age of 74, the newest footage I've found of him was recorded last month.
I’m late! But not too late. I think this song, more than any other, really showcases Alex’s mastery of the guitar. They’re all God Tier, but I do love to see Alex shred, just because so many fools dismiss him as just the world’s finest rhythm guitarist. Cope harder! 💪
