I just discovered this. Thanks for posting this! What a great show, not just Jo-El’s playing and singing but great steel work and amazing twin fiddling too! Any background info on this video? What are the names of the band members? (Je be parked Français) Who was the announcer/MC? There’s quite a few VHS blips but the performance is so great that I can easily overlook that.
BRINGING BACK LOTS OF MEMORIES OF MY YOUNGER DAYS!!! You guys were awesome and still today some of you still around carrying on the tradition. Seeing this shows me how much my son, Jacob looks like Reggie.
Geno was my dad. I played drums for him for years before he passes away in 2011. I'm mostly a country steel player since I was about 15 years old but he asked me to play drums for his band and I'm so glad I did. He was my best friend and miss him a lot. Thanks for posting the video. Been living in Dallas for 30 years now and need to get back down there to visit the Cajun Music Hall of Fame so I can see induction after his passing.
Mike Bart on steel guitar, Allen Ardoin on fiddle, Russell Cormier Sr. on rubboard, Russell Cormier Jr. on drums, Mac Comeaux on bass, Sheryl on accordion.
Je vois Dewey Balfa, sur le violon et son sourire. C'est pour ça que j'aime la belle musique cadienne, creole, zydeco, toute cette culture-la. C'est la joie de vivre. Yeah Brother! That's how people are supposed to enjoy life and each other!

Thank you so very much for posting this bit of Creole zydeco music history. And thank you to KADN TV for having the foresight to program such memorable content way back in the mid 80's.
