DIY with Deon is a result of all the time I had on my hands during the global pandemic lockdown. With basically nowhere to go and soon running out of things to do, my mind got creatively busy. Shortly after this phenomenon, I got brave and started doing things in and around my home that I normally would not attempt or simply never got round to doing.
I plan to tackle various projects that will include various categories. Some will be single projects while others will be developing and expanding projects.
I look forward to expanding my knowledge, skills and to let the creative juices flow. So join me on this journey of exploring, discovery and having fun!
HELP. Can someone tell me why my rivnut won't grab and set(expand) in the hole? I drilled a 3/8 hole, trying to put M6 rivnut but it won't set. Do I need more pressure?
Deon, I love this jig and will make it very soon. At 74 my hearing is really not good. So I apologize if you covered this. What size are the 3 hole on the outer side and the center? Are all blanks the same size as the center hole?
Hi, the big hole in the middle is 54mm and all the smaller ones are 32mm. I hope this helps. You can however make them any size that you prefer. Thanks for your support! 👌
This totally didn't work for me. Every single time when I go to turn the nut, the bolt just starts unthreading from the riv nut even with applying a lot of pressure
I am terribly sorry that you could not find a method that works for your application. Perhaps have a look at the updated version of that video in the description. I hope there might be something in there that will help.
@@DIYwithDeon No worries I found A solution. I went to Harbour Freight and bought a riv nut tool. Lol was only 20 bucks plus I will have another riv nut project anyway.
@@DIYwithDeon It seems that my hole is not perfectly parallel to the surface of the wood or something... when i try with a vice i cannot get the bolt to go through both of the nuts, it goes through the first and then pushes the other out of the wood as it cannot enter it straight.
Putting 2 of them opposite of each other does not really help. Because while the one is pulling, the other one is pushing. so only put one on the opposite side side of the wood from where you put the bolt in.
I also prepared everything, but I did not get any results. Because the rivet nut of all the washers and the support nut was rotating and it was not fixed and riveted in the hole, and no matter what I did, I did not succeed.
The filter has a purpose. You can use this tip just to figure out if the filter is clogged or leaking. Replace the filter and that's the proper way to do it. It's not wise to delete the filter from the system.
Hi, it is a matter of preference of how big you want the cut outs to be. Two things that I kept in mind while determining the sizes were, 1)Not to make the distance between the cut outs too small. 2)Not to make the cut outs to deep into the centre circle so that I could not fit a knob in the middle to hold the piece of wood in place. I hope this helps, thanks for your support! 👌🏻
I've just found this channel. [Subscribe] clicked as a gesture of support and gratitude. I like the "how to manage without a special tool" approach. Spot on! Cheers. :)
Thanks for the tutorial! I don't understand some guys put comments so negative, your demonstration is working so I like our comment "I think you are missing the point...". I was thinking buying the tool until someone from another video mentioned there are a better way using nut and bolt and spanners, I really like the third method with the impact driver, something any "real" DIY has in their toolbox.
