I love the 7.3, but the heui injection system with today's fuel is too temperamental, the all mechanical 12 valve with healthy compression and a functioning grid heater pops right off at zero degrees they all have their ups and downs.
I've got one of these, with stupid high mileage..they are not a conventional diesel...mine starts with 6 dead glow plugs and my heater bowl element fell apart b4 I bought it..this is not a glow plug issue, nor a relay problem, nor a bowl heater fault, they all help but none of it is necessary to start, not on these motors..if you haven't changed the 3/O cable from the starter to solenoid do that first, and clean the connections..they need alot of juice to turn over, both batteries should be 850cca with nice clean grounds, yours sounds slow to turn over compared to mine..also drain your hpop reservoir and fill it with proper rotella 15/40..oil pump is high pressure(3000psi) and needs good clean oil to start nice...and as far as 700hp goes, that sounds a bit far fetched to me,it sounds like mine minus the smoke and hard start once it was running..how and where is the 700hp?
Love that you’re doing the body work, have it leveled in the front, and are running oversized tired with the Alcoa’s. That’s how I’m doing my 97 f350 single cab 7.3. I’ll post a video soon to my page
