I host a game show on Twitch called Arcade Pit. Two teams compete in various game-related challenges every week. I haven't missed a single show in the 8 years it has been running, and host a panel annually at MAGFest too. Watch it!
I stream almost every night at twitch.tv/Smight
I post my LP's here as well as my variety streams and show episodes.
If you want to directly support me and my endeavors, you can do it at my Patreon (patreon.com/Smight). Thanks!
boy howdy do I remember OrganicRobot's Oblivion Kermit video. I made the 3d kermit version, and it kicks ass to hear people remember that thing so much later.
One bit of trivia about that final boss. To win on the second round, you must defeat Death with a decapitation move otherwise he'll regenerate health, I think it's the only game with a fatality mechanic where you are forced to perform one to beat the final boss.
So the story behind this one is a big one. This game was made during the Mortal Kombat clone boom of the mid-90s with the arcade version coming out in 1993. The Genesis version (and a planned Super Nintendo version which was cancelled) came out... In 1996. They actually finished the port before they were able to release it so the header is dated much earlier than the game actually released, because they struggled to find a publisher. When they finally did get a publisher the game was already like two years old. This might've been passable for 1994, when it was initially intended to release, but NOT for 1996.
HA! I remember this game! I was able to beat this game pretty regularly as a kid, the final boss is certainly something... The weird different animation style was very off-putting to me as a child, and it still very much is as an adult. Like thestrongbadman pointed out in your chat, the Odiesaurus boss had a nasty habit of jumping off the screen and softlocking the entire game, necessitating a reset. I'd rerank this game's level design as a 1 star, the tree level in level 2 is HOT garbage, and the clarity of where you're supposed to go is godawful. Nevertheless, I still have fond memories of this game.
Oh. My. God. This game! The RU-vid algorithm has directed me to one of my first games I ever played as a child! I knew even back then that this game wasn't very good. I could never find any of the friends the manual says are in the game, and I only managed to get to the third level (? Not sure, the level with the exploration era ships) before dying. Let's see how you do on this, random RU-vidr I've never encountered before!
It's kind of weird in hindsight that this game and Gex came out so close to each other, just a few months apart in 1995. They're remarkably similar in a lot of ways.
With regards to the series name, 'Genesis Emesis', meaning Genesis vomit, at least keeps the lyrical flow, but might be a little too abstruse. Relatedly I suppose, on the subject of 'what's worse for cats', coffee is probably worse overall because caffeine is incredibly bad for lots of small animals and coffee's loaded to the gills with it. Several spices you would likely find in lasagna, like garlic and oregano, can also be dangerous and potentially lethal to cats, but you CAN make a cat safe lasagna...provided you omit the spices and the tomato sauce. The tomato sauce won't kill your cat, but it's reasonably likely to give the cat diarrhea and vomiting; the tomato itself is fine, but the leaves and stems of tomato plants are well known for mildly poisoning horses, dogs, and cats causing that nasty reaction, and if you use canned sauce or paste it'll probably have some of the offending btis of the plant in it.
So I guess I'll post a correction here since I got it wrong in the chat. It's back+B to do the arm/torso removal attack in Cyborg Justice. It's the same motion to do a kick so if you're kicking you're doing it right, but you just have to be closer to activate it. It's a little tricky to pull off so it works better if you stun the opponent by punching them three times first. After you've got the opponent's torso, you can press B again and you absorb them for healing. If the amount you heal would push you beyond max health you get an extra life to store the remainder. There's no cost for doing this or anything, so it's just wildly more effective than actually fighting your enemies normally.
So I haven't watched all of this but I would be surprised if you beat this in 7 hours? I know you beat Lucian but what I remember is that there was like a second half of the game after that?? Or are we not doing that? It's fine either way though I felt it was a bit of a neat idea of like seeing if you'll turn into the tyrant Lucian was to stop whatever was coming and all but its' been a looong fuckin time since I did the game. So if it's not interesting enough to you than fair enough. Or maybe i'm just misremembering too since it's again been a long fuckin time.
Ultima VI is a historically noteworthy game, just that it really needed streamlined for the SNES (moreso than it was) and many were doing a much better job of what Ultima wanted to do with less clunky interfaces by the time this came out originally on PC. It's a fine enough game, this is why streamlined gaiden games existed.
MDCT and Madi talking about how poorly the game aged being totaly derailed by Smite's Clown avatar. *Chef's kiss* EDIT: am I the only one who thinks the mini-game music is Ripped RIGHT off from Bully's carvial game background track? It sounds almost identical. EDIT2: Man, Peter must think anyone who plays Fable is a god damn slow goldfish.
Not that it matters all that much, it is 3 minutes of a much longer video, but I just wanted to let you know in case it is caused by something that could become a larger issue later. Better to nip it in the bud now then lose the best stream you ever have ever (my money is on the inevitable Fable 3 stream in 2031, or perhaps you dip into the insanity that is the Risen series.) lose all audio.
Also one last note, Hammer is supposed to be like, Lionshead "striking back" at Heavenly Sword, the early PS3 game that a lot of people were hyped for and came out around the same time, so they put a version of her in the game as a bumbling idiot who could only swing a weapon well, and made her fat. Like, I think they were trying to make a mean joke? But it just comes off as sad?
