They don't even have that yellow color available on their website??? Hmmm. Thanks for the video. It's very very expensive. You can get two of their 40L bags for $175 dollors or one of these for $240. That's crazy. Insane actually
@@bikebikerides where did you get a yellow one?? I just think the bag overall isn't a well thought out commuter bag. I think they could have added a water bottle net somewhere and a place for U-Lock. I mean they are bike specific bags. So those two things should have been a no brainer. Cause where you going to carry the water bottle when you convert the pannier bag to a backpack on a hike or something??
I've done sections of The Greenway route this year. I disliked that major roadways like McKnight 17th Avenue and pagan trail forced me to make massive detours inorder to stay on a bike path
Thanks Sean, we went yesterday and had a blast, even with so-so weather. We were hoping to do the campground yesterday night, but apparently some scouts had overrun the ACC hut and campground. We got halfway down the BC side and ran into some fellow Calgarians coming back up, who saved us the full haul down and up. Pro tip: don’t waste your time on BC Parks’ reso site, they won’t honour the permit. All worked out, we ended up back by Upper Kananaskis and stayed at the awesome Mount Sarrail Campground -where there was no fire ban! Thanks for the pro tips.
That part from the Bow River by Cranston through Fish Creek and all the way to the top of the hill at Weaselhead is a steady uphill. It's deceiving but it's a butt kicker and significant elevation gain. Good on ya! Congrats on your 2 years. And again, thanks for sharing.
Nice ride! I’ve lived in Strathmore for the last 5 years and regularly do long rides on the Calgary pathway system. Watching this series has been inspiring and got me and my sons out for a 100km last weekend before they go back to College next week. It was their longest ride yet!
Great video! Always makes me wanna get out there and adventure!! stoked to find out about the hostel too, for those cooler fall nights! kick stands are definitely gonna make a comeback, soo convenient!
My current fav Calgary ride is a NW loop starting at the Edgemont Ravine, through Hidden Valley, across the top to Nose Creek, south to the zoo, west to Montgomery, north up the hill and back to the start.
Interesting mix with this build. Looking forward to your impressions of the Smoothie HP. A bike I have considered but nothing online for reviews. I had a Pescadero for a bit with 650x48 tires and fenders. It did not feel lively though quite comfortable. I traded it for a Bassi Bloomfield fixed frame to run 650x42 for commuting. Love the Velo Orange stuff. I have three bikes with their Rando bars, two with their cranks and several sets of fenders. I would have bought their Rando frame but not enough room for 35/38 and fenders. I am a fan of bar ends with 10 speed road builds. One of my goals for this year is a circumnavigation of London, Ontario where I live. Should be about 105km. I have a medical condition so I can ride about 3 hours or 75km+ normally. The first attempt would be a test to determine the route.details. I live in the central area of the city so you need to add 20 km to get to and from the starring point. Great that you are back to riding and improving your health.
These are the tires that came with the bike when I bought it used. They are very slow for sure. I have a set of Schwalbe Smart Sam tires on order which will be much more appropriate for the mixed terrain riding I'll be doing with this bike.
Prob the only person i heard not liking the paul brakes , i never try what u running on this bike but most ppl really enjoy them, nice build i dig it more inspiration for an bridgestore i received
Nice build! I just "finished" building out my 1998 Barracuda XC URT frame into a softtail gravel bike. I put on a Carver rigid, steel fork with an axle to crown measurement of 440mm. I am running a set of Paul Components Cross Stop 3's front and rear with a set of Dia-compe moto style levers from 1986, Satori Aero bars (Copy of the Origin8 Strongbow), 1x7 drivetrain, friction shifter, 11-34 cassette, and a 30t chainring.
@@bikebikerides Sure do, I have already taken it on several gravel rides. It works very well with the 1 x 7 drivetrain and the rear suspension takes the edge off any rough sections. I am looking at front and rear racks because I plan on using it next year to ride the Katy Trail in Missouri next year.
Thanks for the video. It motivated me to do it and I just got back from my overnighter there although I parked at WBC trailhead. Did you use an ebike? I did.
Love the Bike! I just bought myself one. Can you link the fenders and headlight you had on your winter build? Do you have a tail light installed? Thanks for posting!
