Welcome to our log cabin homestead. The focus is a simple life centered on Christ. We are working toward a more self sustaining and healthy life by getting back to God’s creation and purpose. Knowing and growing our own food, preserving the harvest, and teaching the lost skills of generations past. Come by for a visit, sit a spell on the porch swing, enjoy a mason jar of sweet tea and some of that Mississippi hospitality. Matthew 13:23
@@almamejia8043 Thank you for asking a great question. There is some confusion about it. This is definitely not from the tropical plant that produces plantain fruit, but rather from a low growing, grassy herb that many consider a weed. There is a narrow leaf and a broadleaf variety. Both can be used for the tea.
This is the best no extractor method I’ve seen. Very straightforward and efficient with not a lot of clean up. I’m heading into my first year with bees and don’t expect to get honey but in case I CAN take a frame or two, this is a low cost investment to make for new beekeepers. Thank you! ❤ 🐝
We have the same sink, same hat and apparently same name! 😅 I did the ekopel 2 on the cast iron tub and I'm not really happy with it 1-2 years later. Maybe I will learn something here ❤
@jmkelly7710 Same hat too? That's funny😁. This was my first try, and overall I'm very pleased. One thing I try to remind others is that the Ekopel is an epoxy and not enamel, so precautions should be followed. We are happy with how the sink is holding up, but I don't set hot pots on or in it, and I don't clean my cast iron in the sink either. So far it's held up very well. Beginners luck maybe. Thank you so much for the great feedback and have a blessed evening ❤️
Thanks for your helpful information on how to harvest plantain seeds to replant. How do you recommend storing the seed after I harvest them this fall? Can’t wait to see how they’ll sprout and prosper and produce good fruit, just as we are instructed to do as well. May God’s grace and blessings continue to be upon you. This was the first video of your’s I’ve seen but that’s enough to convince me to subscribe and watch more. You’re a true blessing! ♥️✝️🙏
We have been very pleased with the results. One thing I like to remind others is that the Ekopel is an epoxy and not enamel. There are some precautions I take, like not setting hot pots in the sink and being careful to not drop heavy pots either. So far it's holding up well and we get lots of compliments on it. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed evening ❤️
@sherolynmorrisey4741 Thank you so much for the kind words! The scoop that comes with the powder is about 1/2 tsp and I use that per pint jar. Have a blessed evening ❤️
Nice sound, but your manual says you should only hear it one to four times per minute. Yours is way more than that. You need to turn the fire down a tad.
Does it matter if the plant is dried or fresh? Was that one tablespoon per cup? Can I make a pot per day and just reheat it to drink it? Or make each cup as needed?
A tablespoon per cup is great place to start. You can adjust to your liking from there. You sure can make a pot a day but I would make a fresh pot for each day. Please make sure you source your plantain from a reputable source, or if you're foraging that you are sure of the identification. There has been some confusion from a few commenters with this and the banana like plant. Not the same at all. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed day!❤️
i know this video is older , but i've been raising chickens for at least 7 years at my new place. first time we dealing with this! i have lost 10 already! i'm going to try the elderberry i hope it works! i've been raising the new flock since they were hatched first week of March. it's very sickening with the amount of money you spend trying to raise them buying them as chicks and then they just dying a few every day! right now they're five months old and I'm having a hard time keeping them alive. I've never lost chickens before this is the first for me because they are well taken care of.!
Thank you for your friendly, simple, straight forward presentation. I've had trouble getting it right. I used an old tin camp pot, using your simple instructions and I actually can drink it black now. I used to add creamer to cover the bitterness. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
Very helpful video! My Molly likes to be a mother and be milked too! Today is the day she’s supposed to be dried off by and she’s producing a little over a gallon on once a day milking. I think I’d be OK to stop, but she has a history of mastitis so this video helped me understand what to do to slowly dry her off, thank you!
This was such great information. I just bought my first family cow. She managed to get pnuemonia in transport and the milk will be unusable for a month post treatment. Considering drying her off now instead of October. She is due to calve in December. Thanks for confirming the method I was considering.
You're quite welcome! Transport can be stressful and can set even the healthiest cow up for pneumonia. Sounds like you're giving her the best of care❤️
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your experiences with harvesting seeds and growing wild plantain. In southeast Texas, we had a lot of wild plantain growing in the spring, but it has disappeared now (end of July). However, I have a couple of Turkish giant plantains that I purchased in the spring from a lady in California, and they are doing very well in pots. The pods are just now turning brown and drying out, so I've been able to harvest two stems so far. I can hardly wait for next spring, as I hope to have tons of giant plantain growing around here! Does anyone else have experience growing giant plantain in southeast Texas?
@@LittleCountryCabin I had not heard of them either until I watched the following video, which led me to purchase some seeds from him, but I also purchased a couple of small plants from the lady in California I mentioned. My plants may not be as large as Doc Jones' plants yet, but they are getting pretty big! They look great in pots. And yes, I love learning from each other as well, especially since I am new to the medicinal herbal plants. Sometimes I just shake my head in wonder and think, "Wow, we sure serve an awesome God!" Last comment. I just revisited that video, and my plants ARE as large as his, and if possible, even prettier. Lol. I just don't have as many this year.
@SmallPaul60 oh I have to check out the video! Love Doc Jones!! I would love to try some of his seeds too. Thanks for the info and I totally agree, God is AMAZING!!!❤️❤️❤️
Would it be that the heat produced by the windshield is stronger than the usual slow dehydration? That can’t be very good because too much heat kills the goodness of the plant material you are using, right? 🤔
@rebeccamanley6789 I used to struggle so much but one day it finally clicked and now it's part of my kitchen routine. The whole family is loving it. Thanks for taking the time to share a comment. God bless!❤️
Thanks for the video! You made it look so easy. I looked on Amazon and the reviews for this product state that it stained easily and they couldn't get the stains out even with bleach. What's been your experience? I wanted to use this for my kitchen sink.
