I’m interested in steam deck. I like to play my switch on tv. The deck has better games tbh but how many can I play offline with out WiFi. I go months at sea with out WiFi. Last time I tried to use steam on a Mac it bricked and I couldn’t play games I downloaded until I could log back in on WiFi.
Do not buy a steam deck unless you want to see black screen of death or other bullshit. And no, it happened just a fews days or hell right out of the box.
The screen is bigger when your in a bigger room, If you sit in front of a wall it shrinks in size So if your in a large room you get the 120 inch screen
Question for you SD owners.... I have a Switch OLED and enjoy it for Nintendo only titles. I play it 99.9% of the time docked with the Pro Controller. I miss not having an Xbox anymore and miss a lot of the classic titles. Is buying a SD OLED to run docked worth it or is there a better way? I'm not too fond of owning digital games and would rather have physical media but in 2024, this seems to be the easier way (unfortunantly). Advice? Thanks everyone!
Only buy the switch if you need to bring the console everywhere. Works for me. Most convenient handheld/console, but steam deck quality compares to the switch is ❤
Main downfall is getting to upgrade internals. Storage and install parts. Theirs no video on copy and paste to get a bigger ssd. Not micro sd card. If you brick it while attempting to upgrade. Good luck.
Use Crossover to emulate zomboid windows version to get more fps, the reason it is so bad on Mac is the game use OpenGL on macOS which is not supported by apple for a long time, when you emulate the game using Crossover or Whisky , the game runs on Vulkan or DirectX api, then translated to the Metal api macOS uses, then you get more efficient performance , even though about 10-20% performance are wasted during the translation, the game still runs much better than the macOS version.
Hey mate, Thanks for sharing. I think I'm still going to get the Atom and cross my fingers. Have you discovered any good community to share tips and tricks and maybe info on how to fix common issues ? Thanks,
You nailed it with the last point, now i get to relax next to mt loved one while she watches her shows. Pretty much played the entirety of Elden Ring on the deck, beat the game and am waiting for the DLC (planning on huying it next week) and going to try to beat as well.
It's bulky but I refuse to travel without my Deck. Took a trip to Ireland and yeah it was a lifesaver on my downtime. I also didn't know how big of a gamechanger it would be but....AR glasses! Holy hell my Xreal Air 2s are by far the best purchase I've made for my Deck.
My problem with the steam deck, even though I have two, is the load times. Compare loading Final Fantasy one pixel remaster on the steam deck versus the switch. The switch loads up so much quicker. This applies to all games. I don’t know why such a symbol game takes so long to load.
Answer the question, I have two steam decks. I bought the original and then an OLED afterwards and decided to keep the original one hooked up to my television. The OLED I use around the house.
A lot of people on the internet recently are like "Oh well the Asus ROG Ally has way better specs and performance than the Steam Deck since this runs at 4k 120hz while your crappy steam deck runs at 4k 60hz🤓" But like literally no one cares cuz all you need is the comfortability and satisfaction that the steam deck provides for you. The Ally is a windows 11 OS anyways which is so bad.
Bro I got a steam deck in February last year 2023 64gb lcd model, I used that thing up sooo much that when Tekken 8 came out, the thing went to a full dead battery and destroyed the screen. That was 2 days before the warranty was up 😂 talking about being lucky. They sent back a brand new lcd model (newer guts) and ice still use it every just to run discord alone, yet many other light activities
Shortly after I got my Steam Deck, my local family and I took a trip to Kentucky prompted by the passing of a family friend. On our way back my dad's van broke down. We were stuck in a hotel for a week in West Virginia. I was so glad to have my Steam Deck with me. Through it, we were able to watch desirable media on the TV. Many a games were played. One night my sister and I couldn't sleep, so we took the Deck out to the lobby and I watched her play Red Dead 2. The deck is quiet enough to play in a hotel room without bothering anybody, but her and I laugh at that game a lot so we didn't want to wake sleeping people.
Can you mod it to get free games? I don't really like Nintendo, but the only reason I bought. SWITCH is because you can just download all the games for free. Can this do that?
