Wow Birch Selsdon place must have been "heaven" for its virtue signaling eco-loon demographic for the all of 6 months that's right that this "alternative paradise" hotel actually lasted! Quite why the founding partners of Birch Hotels Chris Penn left in February 2020 and Chris King by February 2023 is all a bit murky and quite how the new Managing Director Ayo Akinsete and his Financial Director colleague Kam Bathia managed to sink the new enterprise within 6 months despite Ayo's experience in launching new hotels and proclamations of "proven concept" in their new approach and philosophy behind Birch would appear to have been an exercise in the most extraordinary hubris and poor business planning. Did anyone consider a "feasibility study" before launching Birch? Did Ayo and Kam actually talk to one another or were they just cynically and opportunistically happy to run the place "dry" until the money finally ran out? Perhaps a well run traditional four or five star country house hotel is actually a rather more "proven concept" than Ayo Akinsete is prepared to admit? In any event I'm not remotely against the concept of mutliple different activities taking place at a large hotel. Perhaps just a few tiny tweaks of the large traditional country house concept to include a wider range of activities is really all it takes. But destroying a perfectly good golf course for some fools paradise of a "wilding project" whatever that "really" means seems like a fool's errand with precious little to show for it imho! It certainly seems that way. Birch Selsdon talked about raising long horned cattle or some such I believe but I'm very suspicious about "wilding" anyway when food or livestock raising seem to be an afterthought if indeed it's a thought at all! Perhaps someone should send a discrete note to the "re-wilders" mentioning the fact that the UK's population is massively rising and we actually need to grow more food not LESS! All in all a lot more questions than answers here!

@@john2914 make promises about yourself and to yourself instead of on others behalf. Not sure how old you are but wait buddy. Wait till you’re Joe’s age. He’s not obese. Again, more in likely more healthy than you are.
