Thanks for the video but I need more info: 1) What measurements (per square and total board size) did you get? 2) What are the original board measurements (per square and total board size)? 3) Do the cardboard floors from expansions still fit relatively well or accurately on your mat's bigger measurements?
Yes. There are clearcoats that can be applied, like automotive 2K, though these are expensive and time consuming to apply. Otherwise you have to be vigilant, and keep up on the care. some thin plating does not come back from tarnish, and eventually pit marks appear. Ammonia-free window cleaner is among the best daily cleaner.
the resin itself doesn't matter as much. The metallic finish is from using real metal powder (nickel, copper, brass) in the resin. I use the Smooth-On Onyx black resin to help bring out the metallic colors better. There is a link in the description for a video by Smooth-On that shows more of the molding casting, and adding other colored powders..
I just received this mat today, ordered it based on this review video! Thanks, I would have never trusted that website sight-unseen without this video, and the mat is absolutely PERFECT
Thank you so much. HeroQuest is very near and dear to my heart, so I like to get things to add to the experience. I hoped somebody would see this and help their next adventure. I plan on doing some more things like this in the future, to help with gameplay experience as well as a video on the new Heroquest release soon
What country do you live in? We have an Etsy store that sells kits for making your own leather strap for a championship belt. www.etsy.com/shop/IronDrakeStudios Short of that, the only other materials are Vinyl or PVC. You can add thickness by layering it Use Craft foam in the center layer, they sell it in a big roll. I use this for the kids versions I sell
What would you suggest for the process of creating an original mold as opposed to a replica mold? I've seen people suggest printing on to card, but it always looks very rough and unprofessional. Any tips there? Great video btw
@@irondrakeStudios Well here you're making a mold from an existing belt, I was just wandering how you would advise someone make an original mold from their own design? I had spoke to someone previously who suggested thick pieces of card with elements of the design printed on to it, glued together and then molded, but he showed me things he had made with this method and they looked very rough and a lot of the detail was missing from their actual designs and such. Hope that makes a little more sense, sorry for the vagueness of the original comment, haha.
@@BrainbusterLeckie I'm going to be doing an update video very soon, and I will address this question for you, so I hopefully will be more understood, then what I can type
This is awesome!!! Been looking for a good documentation breakdown of making championship belts. Too sweet!!! Looking forward for more to learn. Thanks!!!
We went over some ideas in the past video, but I really want to give a better overview, specifically for leather. There's a lot more details and info that I'm sure will be helpful. Keep watching.
did u really mention Vinyl who whould want that for there championship , i want real leather and how do u desgin a title wen u don't wat tha center plate should look like and side plates and strap ??? ...... is hard to come up with a unique design .
Some people aren't comfortable with leather yet. Vinyl is a good place to make mistakes, while trying to figure out your style. Most straps follow certain criteria as far as length, center-line. how big your snapboxes should be. only the cut around your main plate(for the most part, excluding any artistic license) alters your designs. Unique can come later, start with basic shapes. Ovals, squares, elipses. You don't have to start with fancy, get something basic. Either make that or improve on it. Style starts to emerge as you improve on basic designs.
Yes. Once the resin has set a bit, but not fully hardened, you can prop the edges of the mold up, I have blocks for this. Usually 15 minutes after pouring the resin. Then let it sit for a couple hours to harden and retain the curve before demolding. I don't do this for the smaller main plate, but for the US and Television plates I do.
Vincent Lapointe cost of materials is about $85. That's price of resin, plus shipping, esse release, mixing cups, stirrers, screw posts, cost of the metal powder varies depending on which you put in.
