My name is Kris and I'm the camera man, photographer and trip planner for all my hunting, camping, fishing and outdoors activities. Sure there are plenty of other channels out there, but there's only one 'me'. I'm unique as I'm the person filming and editing all my video's. I have a passion for this and enjoy it. I try to provide you quality video's anyone would enjoy. I know what you're thinking, "Well, Kris... Why should I subscribe to your channel and what makes you so special?" My answer, with me, you're not going to get the "I'm too good for you" or "I can do this better than you" attitude that a lot of people throw out like candy from a float in a parade. I'm a down to earth guy that will show appreciation by actively engaging with you and even do some giveaway's. In other words, the more you enjoy my content, the more I give back! I like to laugh so you will hear a lot of that as well! I will also attempt to show you a few new tips and tricks along the way.
Hi bro I'm about big it this morning, and try.. never use it before .. but the sale man at Sportman ware house saying this reel is not good for catfish..? Is that true..???
I think that would depend on the size of the catfish you're going after. I would think up to 15lbs, you'd be alright but if you're going after the big girls, like blue catfish, then I would use a spinning reel.
I did some minor adjustments on the tension. It was more of a learning curve for me. Since I made the initial changes from this video, I have not had to touch them again. The Shimano Curado DC is by far my favorite reel at the moment. I'm planning on buying more. Once I can afford it... Metanium!
I actually ended up getting a 6th Sense Divine a few weeks ago. Now it's a wonderful combo. I'm really liking the new rod but I'll definitely check out the expride line.
It's actually not a Diawa rod. It does look similar to them though and I do have some of their rods. The one in this video is a TFO rod. Specifically model TFG PSC 705-1. It's a medium heavy rod with a fast tip. Designed for 3/8oz to 1oz lures with 8lb-17lb line. I absolutely love this rod. Has enough backbone with just enough flex in the tip to make working a top water bait easy.
@@DoubleKOutdoors Not the rod your using with the Curado DC, you switched to another rod it looked like it had some holographic patterns with DAIWA logo in it
Oh! My bad. Yes that is 100% a Diawa rod. It's the Daiwa Aird-X series. Model AIRX701MHFB. What's that translates to is, it's a 7ft rod that's a meduim heavy build with a fast action tip. It's made for 1/4oz to 1oz lures and 10lb-20lb line. I actually have 2 of them currently. They won't break the bank and they are sensitive. I've used it for multiple types of fishing and where I found that it really shines is with soft plastics. That could be just me and the way I fish though. Overall, great rod for a beginner or novice that won't empty your wallet AND is versatile.
@@DoubleKOutdoorsIt’s a good looking rod! Thanks for the info, I’m going to look it up and see about picking one up for myself even though I don’t need another rod because I have so many. Yes I have an addiction 😅
My personal preference is XG but I can use the HG just as effectively. I personally like higher than average gear ratios so I tend to lean towards XG. While most people use 6:4:1 for cranking baits like chatterbait and square bills, I like a 7:1:1 or a 7:4:1. My top water reel is a Diawa Fuego with 8:1:1 and I love it being that fast.
If i get the curado dc with 40 lb 8x braid should I get the 150 or 200 because i have seen my friend unspool the whole spool in 1 cast and i think you could Throw it farther if you have a bigger spool. Please Help
Honestly... I've never even come close to spooling my 150. I've thrown some heavier baits that are about 1 ounce to 1.5 ounces. I think it might be doable, but it would take some work. With my bass fishing in freshwater, I don't have the need for a 200 yard cast. Fishing salt... possibly. That being said, I would base my decision on how far your average cast is. Less than 100 yards, get the 150. Anything over 100 yards, get the 200.
Thanks so much for sharing another fishing adventure! Some nice catches! Enjoyed watching this. Sorry everyone didn't catch a fish, but like you said, that's how it goes sometimes. Sorry you been through a lot recently. Hope your getting back to full strength and feeling good. Looking forward to more great content. Always enjoy your videos buddy! And hope the family is doing well! Keep up your love for the outdoors my friend!
I missed being outdoors. I'm glad you're feeling better as well. I also happy that the weather is cooperating. I think Melmo was being driven nuts by me!
I purchased it on a whim. I was at a Bass Pro Shops and was talking to the guy that works in the fishing department and he was telling me how great the rods were and for the price, your getting way more than expected. I've been impressed with it and it's my favorite rod. I actually keep it better protected than all the others.
Congrats on the flounder! We both caught our first flounders this Summer! How long was your red? It really looked like a nice size. I bet it pulled you all over the place in that kayak. Glad you guys got to have a good vacation!
I actually didn't weigh or measure it, but if I had to guess, it was about 26-28 inches. Yeah, it pulled me pretty good! I'm hoping next time Melmo is able to go and she can catch one.
Great video! Thanks for sharing this! I really enjoyed watching. That was a very nice redfish. Glad to hear that you all had a great time. Looking forward to more great stuff my friend. Keep up the good work! And as always, #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!!!
I didn't even notice that it was visible! Oops! I didn't mean to put it into the shot. I try to keep politics out of my content, but yeah... not hard to tell where I stand.
That's hilarious. You and I really should sit down and let me show you my google map. Max and I were fishing here on Saturday. We looked at some old photos and it had been since November of 2019 that we had been there. That's a GREAT spot with big ponds, and some creeks running through.
I found it a while back as well. It's a good spot but the bite was slow and nothing but dinks. We can certainly do a sit down and compare some spots. I have some favorites and I'm willing to trade spots 😁
Great video! Enjoyed watching you all out there catching some fish and having fun. Appreciate you taking the time to share and for taking us on this adventure. Good job! Keep up the good work my friend! Looking forward to more great content. And as always, #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!!!
Great video buddy! I really enjoyed watching this. Good job out there! Even though no giants, you still had some nice catches. Thanks so much for sharing and taking us along. Keep up the good work my friend! And as always, #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video. I wish that I could have been uploaded sooner, but life has been getting in the way! Working on a few more video's so should be ready soon. Thank you again for the kind words. It means a lot to me.
There's still some big ones lurking in that place. Every year I or MelMo catch one 4+ out of that spot. It's a great place if you know when to go and what to fish with.
Es un gran carrete y es muy suave. Si te lo puedes permitir, te lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Podría regalar uno eventualmente. Gracias por el comentario y tu apoyo.

Welcome and thank you for your comment. I agree that the Curado DC is a great reel. It's very smooth and easy to use. I have a goal that one day I'll have a Metanium and a Chronarch. Those are some very expensive reels but if they are anything like the Curado, I'm sure they are well worth it.
Nice video buddy! Thanks for sharing the short adventure. Happy 4th to you and your wife! And family! Hope all is well! Looking forward to more great adventures and content. As always, #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!!!
Thank you @davidwilliams1805 - It was a decent day for sure. I'm always happy to share. Hopefully I'll have more uploaded soon. Happy 4th to you and you're family!!!! Thank you again for the kind words.
Nice video! Very nice bass! Wish you would have had your scales, but at least it's on video! Thanks for sharing buddy! As always, #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!!! Great job! Looking forward to more great content!
Oh, I know. I've been beating myself up over that for a while. Problem solved now, but man that frustrating! Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I should have another video out this week.
Story time folks: It is no coincidence how Kris and his family catch fish so effortlessly. The guy really has it down to a science. My son and I went to a local fishing pond, this was his second time fishing. Through the duration of him fishing at the pond there were several people fishing that came and left, nobody was catching anything. Shortly after Kris and Melissa arrived at the pond, Kris catches a nice size fish (sorry not sure what it was, I don't fish myself). My son went over to Kris to ask him what bait he was using. Kris and Melissa came over to our fishing location and spent like 30 minutes talking to him about tips and strategy on how to fish. Even generously gave him some stuff for his basic tackle box. Kris and Melissa are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, fishing is no hobby for this guy, it's obviously a passion of Kris's.
It was our pleasure to speak with you and your son. I'm thrilled to see kids being involved and love seeing their faces light up when they catch a fish. Thank you for the kind words. It's very much appreciated.
Great video buddy! Thanks so much for sharing! She was putting a beat down on those bass. She did a great job! Keep doing what you do buddy! #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!
As I stated before, that is a really awesome giveaway! Appreciate you and what you're doing buddy! Looking forward to your channel growth. Keep doing what you do! #DoubleKOutdoors rocks!
Great tip for you let us hear that lovely whine from them DC brakes every cast the DC brakes are something else baitcasting is fun but its even better with a DC reel
We found the rocks and a lot of the places to get snagged. I think we broke off 4 times in that one trip! Strong fish though. Fought way harder than expected for their size.
