And also the queen can actually control the amount of eggs getting produced inside of her same with ants too so when it’s nice and warm outside and the queen is getting fed well she will make herself produce more eggs and when it gets a bit cold or very cold and food is more scarce she will make her body produce less eggs!
No the king does not die off. Those are not ants😅. The king lives and mates with the queen several times during his lifespan and when one of them dies (king or queen) there are replacements ready
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦 Also started a tiny garden in my yard during lockdown and have kept it going since. This year is my fourth year. I love volunteer plants!! Also started planting our indigenous plants, veggies and medicinal.
Congrats on the new pippies. Make sure the mom has sufficient food and water, especially since she is nursing. Dogs can eat foods from the garden too. Spinach is a nutrient, dense food. That can be grown fairly easily and shared with people as well as dogs.
You can make your own fertilizer by fermenting the weeds that you pull. Mix it in water, cover it then add more water to the fermented water and use that on the soils around your plants.
Greetings from American, I save all my egg shells and crush them, and I spread them in my garden, in all my planters ,especially right near the stems . I never saw any for the whole garden season.

I have a tiny budget, so upcycle what I can and people donate things to me from their community allotments. I've built a foil tent out of a disused trampoline frame. I am so excited for this season!
