This is a magazine style series called Woza Africa, (meaning come to Africa in Zulu), showing outstanding places to visit, historical events, food and culture. It'll also include the basics of wildlife photography and filmmaking and adventure kit testing. Being passionate about wildlife we'll include items on conservation, especially the extensive problem of poaching throughout the subcontinent.
Hey I just bought a used Fortuner 4×4 Diesel, I'm considering to mod it like you've done. Thanks for this great video. How much was the total cost of all this customisation??
Great video Sir. I bought my 2006 Fortuner V6 Petrol brand new when I was 19. 16 years later she is running like a charm. I fabricated a long range 80L tank, gravity fed, fabricated spare wheel carrier than holds two jerry cans of fresh water on both sides (80L fresh water), and on the spare wheel rim, is a holder for the gas cylinders. I also have a national luna install similar to yours. I decided to keep my OEM front bar, din't bother to change it since I don't find myself doing alot of narrow tracks, plus I don't want the extra weight. My suspension are King springs with Profender shock absorbers. I just recently installed an aluminium awning. I also removed the four catalytic converters to get extra power and decrease fuel consumption. I replaced the two catalytic converters with boosters to keep the Fortuner a bit quiet, but when it's time for low range she's loud! It's great to see a V6 1GR FE out there. Nice review!
Hi sorry I missed this comment. It's about 115 kms, about 3 and a half hours. The last 30 kms or so is quite tricky. The middle of the track is quite high, due to trucks wearing away the track. In my view not suitable for towing.
Hi Mike, thanks for your video. What does normally go wrong with fortuners? Is there any part that needs special attention? I'm looking to buy a fortuner same year as yours.Thanks.
Hi Cristotelos, thanks for your message. I’ve had the car for 6 years and not had any problems at all. As you’ve seen the suspension has been upgraded. I’m sure I would have needed to do that during that period. If I needed to buy again I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again! I love it! The engine is excellent and the auto gearbox is great for off-roading. 😀
Hi Mike, you have confirmed what I thought, from the modern SUVs it seems the fortuner is one of the very few that are still built tough. The question that still have is about the power unit. Here in Ecuador we only get fortuners with petrol engines the 2.7 l and the 4.0 l. I have driven the 4 cilinder 2.7 l and it feels it is underpowered. I have noticed you have the 4.0l version. How is the fuel consumption of that engine? Do you know roughly how many km/gallon (or equivalent) does the fortuner v6 4l gives on highway and city? I appreciate your help!
I am wondering how much support these mattresses give. I normally sleep on my side, so I would want it to give under the hip and shoulder, but obviously not bottom out. Could you please comment on that aspect?
Hi there thanks for messaging me. I also sleep on my side and not found any problems with it. I’ve got the medium, and I’m happy with it. I hope that’s helpful. Cheers
When it gets wet or there's ice it can be challenging but not too bad . The views are spectacular and worth the visit alone. Sadly putting tarmac down will spoil the whole experience! Thanks for looking at the video.
Oh... my dream! From this point of view doesn't seam so challenging, maybe when the whether conditions are bad it is. Probably will never do it myself. at the time I can afford it it will be already paved :(
