Welcome traveller, I am Nergling your guide to all things Oldhammer. I predominantly do Warhammer and wargaming related videos, some funny. I usually cover Chaos as this is my army of choice and has been for many years. If you are a wargamer I'm sure I have something that may interest you, whether it is fluff, hobby work or advice on collecting.
I don't keep to a schedule of any kind, far too much going on over here.
@@jehanchavez4362 hi there mate, every model in this army is a metal cast so it would be difficult to find scans of all of them. If you went on thingiverse you might be able to find something useful for free. I would search for things like ‘28mm Beastmen’, ‘28mm monsters’, ‘Heroquest miniatures’, and broaden the search from there. I hope that helps!
NECRO-comment 2 years later. @17:08 THIS small section here influenced my current army building very nicely. I've been assembling a Perry Brothers Feudal/Bretonnian army strictly from 1988 period figures. After I watched this video, I decided to rework it into a "collection" so that it involved NO repeat copies. Maybe some typical Citadel conversions, but not a single duplicate allowed! And TBPH the 1980's Brets range was not terribly extensive, so I started thinking that this would not be possible. But it turned out okay. In fact it made my army that much more appealing and fun. Thanks for sharing! 👍💯
@@sarahthesarah2850 yes actually historicals isn’t in my lane either but I really enjoy the cross over of using fantasy models in a historical setting and vice versa 🤷
Wish I found this channel sooner. This is now my new binge list for painting. Thank you. Great voice and awesome models. I really enjoyed how you presented the lore.
@@sarahthesarah2850 hi Sarah thanks very much for commenting I’m glad you like the channel. I’m working on Rogue Trader, WFB, and Realms of Chaos videos atm, not sure when they will be released because they are taking far longer than hoped! All the best ⭐️
I was a little disoriented at first; but I believe this video seems directed at WFB players looking at a crossover. As a long time WAB guy ( and yes; I have this book) and former WFB player my advice is not to spring for the 200-250 figures it would take to form a WAB army in one go. Pick up "Lion Rampant" from Osprey - 40 to 50 models per warband. If you still dig the era and enjoy the painting but want something bigger, move on to "Never Mind the Billhooks" ; recommended size 100 figures.
@@roberthultz9023 yes you are right, it is aimed at the WFB crowd who are looking for something different. Brilliant advice on starting with period wargaming too, thank you!
man gw stole a lot more then even i new wow I'm not a game workshop hater but i feal a lot of these were other toy lines then Thay just laid claim to it 20 years later a lot of these or I'm i crazy
@@arielhamm-flores6893 oh it’s just plagiarism on top of plagiarism, but hey everything has its origins in something else! I wouldn’t hold that against them, sometimes the copy is better than the original after all 🤷
Got the whole set of the WH Ancient Battles historical books. Yes it's a great book. Built a Crecy based French army based on it and it's cover art. And the rules were very close to perfect for massed b
Nice look at the Warhammer Historical Armies of Chivalry book. I never did get into the Historical systems from GW back in the day, I believe that there's a rulebook somewhere on the shelf for the game. Have a great day
I own this book ! Hehe, gods I'm old. But my copy is very dog eared and abused, just like the silly Bretonnians I stomp, most of the time, on the tabletop. ^^ *Cheers Nergling and friends! Have fun!*
Naturally we can't really refer to Wargames Foundry as a source for "proxy" models. Not when their line contains the ORIGINAL Old Worlders/Men of the West/Bretonnians.
I'm surprised that you didn't make time to discuss the virtues of using WAB/AoC to effectively play non-magical or low-magic Oldhammer battles. It really is a return to an "Old Worlder" Men of the West approach. There really is no reason WAB/AoC can't be used for playing with Bretonnians, Tileans, Border Princes, Empire, etc.
@@Satyr_Art_Studio really great point mate, however I haven’t played for several decades now! Save for some loose Munda games with a mate. That being said I would like to do some games with this Bretonnian/Crusader force for both WFB and historical!
@@Morhgoz well of course, Warhammer was a joyous mixtape of a hundred different ideas. Some obviously lifted, others perhaps less so. It’s really a shame they moved away from homages to the greats like LotR and went down the protective IP route of branding things with silly names.
@@Nergling Also lot of the idea borrowing did come from the fact that the miniatures used for 1st and 2nd edition were from other miniature ranges GW did do which ranged from from historical to ttrpg fantasy etc. I think in 3rd ed Warhammer started to get models made just for it and did also started to get some creatures unique to it, like zoats and Fimir...
This was an excellent supplement, very popular in my gaming group. I think the figures used were from several gamers collections which is why you see a mix of basing systems.
@@Nergling I think there were some old castings there, next to Perrie's metals there were GB, Old Glory and even Essex casts, these last two were several years old at the time of printing that book.
Its 6:30 am ... i dont ahve coffee yet ... my brain is not working. I've been trying to think of something witty to type for 5 minutes ... hum... *Peasant garbage pickers are the only reasons Grail Knights are Green. Ooof, that was bad. LoL*
