So nothing has changed since that film in 1956 THE HARDER THEY FALL. The fighters I watched in the 1970s and 80s ended up on 'skid row'. Rocky Lockridge on the east coast, Aaron Pryor. Others.

No matter how bad it got for him and how hard it was seeing him towards the end, he always carried himself like a champion in my eyes. Life did beat him down, but he always had this certain undefinable class.

Bobby was born in Sylmar California, grew up in Pacoima Ca. Not Pamona. He was a product of the San Fernando Valley, not San Bernardino, Pamona, Ontario, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, or the IE-Inland Empire...

Without extremely tough journeymen fighters like Scrap Iron there would be no superstars like Liston, Foreman, and Ali. In order to become a champ, you had to develop fighting hard fights with guys like Scrap Iron. It was no walk in the park and your will, skill, and toughness would be tested. If you could beat Scrap Iron and about twenty other fighters who were all tough, maybe you would crack the top ten. Guys like Scrap Iron are the reason fighters from the 1980's and years previous are much tougher and more skilled than fighters today.

Adolph Pruitt started me in boxing in October 1997 in St. Louis Mo. 13:59 I had 4 amateur fights ,then me and Adolph drove out to California in March of 1999. We lived at the Broadway gym and in Mario Silvia’s deli underneath the Broadway Gym. I was there 8 or 9 months. Bill Slayton and Adolph trained me for 8 months out there. I learned a lot from other trainers and fighters, Paul Andrews, Dub Huntley, Monroe Brooks, Blue, and others. I love these videos. Glad I could learn from these guys and hear their stories sitting around watching fights with BeBell and the rest of the locals. A great experience! Many life lessons learned from Bill Slayton, Adolph Pruitt,Paul Andrews in his back room and others. Great experience. The Chosen Few motorcycle club was across the street. Great memories and that is coming from a White Nationalist. Great experience in my life. A great education on race, life, and boxing. I know I know more than the average person. A great experience!

Adolph Pruitt and Willie Temple started me out boxing in St. Louis, Mo. October 1997 at the South Broadway gym in St Louis. I drove Adolph back out to LA in March 1999. We slept in Amarillo ,Texas truck stop in my 1987 Chevy celebrity. It was pretty fucking cold. I believe I was 21 years old. Looking for adventure and found it. I believe this interview was the same month(march 1999). I dropped him and stayed two days, sleeping on the massage and exercise tables at the Broadway Gym in LA and then drove back to St.Louis again 2 days later. I drove back to Broadway Gym in my 87 celebrity again in July 1999 to start training with Bill Slayton and Adolph Pruitt. I also learned a lot bullshitting with Paul Andrews and Remus back in his closet area, watching videos of joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson. talking about stance ,positions, leverage conditioning, life, advice, women, and just every day bullshit. I Lived down in Mario’s deli for about six weeks before I moved upstairs into the old sauna area of the Broadway boxing gym. Great experience. I learned a lot. Bill Slayton is a great trainer. Paul Andrews is a great trainer. Dub Huntley is a great trainer. Monroe Douglas is a great trainer and this Dude named Blue and Henry Walker were great teachers also, among many others. What a boxing education I received. I Ended up having 41 pro fights and traveled the world. I wasn’t worth a shit and did not train much unless with friends but I just liked traveling and taking a swing at people that knew how to fight. Boss man Jones would come in there and so would Bruce Curry. Jesse Reid came down with his son, Jesse Junior, to spar a little bit with Lamon Brewster on a Saturday. There was hardly anybody at the gym, and it was a good quality sparring session, and afterwards there was a few of us all talking and someone brought up that Bruce curry still comes in the gym and Jesse Reid sr about shit his pants!! he told us a story about the shooting at the gym with Bruce Curry. We also talked about the UFC fighter Tank Abbott and what a Wildman he was. His son Jesse Junior came over after sparring and said yes, that tank Abbot likes problems!! Lol. And then Jesse Senior said “ He drinks a bottle of vodka every day and he can benchpress 600 pounds. I don’t want to go out at night with him when he invites me.” 😂 Larry Carter was an old Marine and a great guy that will come up and talk shit about fights and people and just a good bullshitter and a great storyteller. George BeBell had the phone locked down and the list to sign in for the gym. Rockin Ricky Hesia would show up a few times. A bunch others also Great boxing gym

@@Drewlin383 No worries - he was a friend of mine back in the day and it took me a long, long time to grasp the fact that he became famous. I think it must have been kind of weird for him too - at least at first. I used to be at impromptu shows of his with like maybe 3 people in the audience so it was a shock when his music blew up.
