Russian opera still underrated .....though we have now since the time around 1990 more than enough singers from eastern europe to perform these excellent operas in Russian.
Non avevo mai ascoltato quest'opera. E' veramente molto particolare e ricca di musica piacevolissima. Sensazionali Inva Mula e Charles Workman, insieme a tutti gli altri interpreti. 🤩💯💯
BELLISIMA MUSICA Y TODA LA OERA EN GENERAL, LASTIMA GRANDE QUE SE HAYA CASI BORRADO LA IMAGEN ES UNA PENA QUE NO SE DIFUNDA A ESTE GRAN COMPOSITOR GRACIAS POR MOSTRARLO
! QUE PENA QUE ESTA BELLA OPERA TENGA UNA IMAGEN SUMAMENTE BORROSA, QUE NI SIQUIERA SE PUEDE DISTINGUIR LOS ROSTROS DE LOS INTERPRETES Y NO SE PUEQA ENTENDER BIEN SU ARGUMENTO ! PERO DE TODOS MODOS GRACIAS POR SUBIRLA
Thoroughly enjoyable. The singing and casting were excellent. I enjoyed the costumes and wigs. I thought the libretto was well-constructed, though I assume it must have seemed a bit slightly Bellini-Donizetti-Sir Walter Scott, old-fashioned, when it was first presented. The music was a bit hit and miss: from the absolutely gorgeous to the more workmanlike. The ending, I thought, was surprisingly moving. I was very glad you posted this; and it certainly is an Opera that I'd like to see again, from time to time. I recently heard Bizet's IVAN IV, and already love Pearl Fishers, Carmen. I would like to hear the others, now. French Opera is really special.
Does anyone know which version of L'Arlesiana this is? According to various sources, there are four versions - the first version of 1897, the first revision of 1898, the second revision of 1910, and the third revision of 1937. I notice that this version is longer than at least one other version on RU-vid by fifteen minutes or so, which suggests they are different versions. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions!

How is it that Cilea could write so beautiful an aria as Lamento di Federico yet the rest of the opera is such an impossible dud? By comparison, Adriana Lecouvreur is a towering masterpiece
I’m not one for Boomer nostalgia, but it seems to me that this would be an improvement over what is available over the radio today. (Radio is like streaming, only you don’t need a smart phone or computer.)
