I tossed in Omniscience and Chrome Host Seedshark, the deck has a card similar to Seedshark, but it's got better synergy since it's an enchantment. The card might not be too bad though since the mana costs in this deck are generally very high, so you can pay 2 to get some really strong tokens out. I also added Blightcaster... I'm not sure if that'll be good or not but it's one of the only "whenever you play an enchantment" cards I had around.
Been looking for some inspiration in building a new deck without going out to buy new cards and i think this is it. I just happen to break down my last 2 mono white decks so ill probably just use the cards from that for this
I used to agree with you on Deathreap ritual being too slow, but I built this deck and tested it yesterday against some friends, and I realized that it's a BEAST in thia deck. Since you're constantly making goaded birds that are constantly hitting on each other (and often some players will defend the other's bird with their own), and since Deathreap triggers on every player's end step, you'll often be drawing anything from 2 to 4 per turn cycle
Damn, I really missed the fact that the birds enter tapped, ngl- But still, often you'll have someone with a flier or two that can block one of them, and in that case, its sure to bring some profit
Maybe add more protection for Rendmaw. He'll be 7 mana after being removed once. Perhaps some enchantments that give shroud like alpha authority, or some totem armor/hexproof auras.
Ancient Cellarspawn is phenomenal in this deck, in my opinion. Combined with Behold the Multiverse, and you're doing some hardcore work with this. I really think you're underplaying how good a card it is.
I think it's an amazing card, but it is a little win more and the deck isn't really trying to chip damage. Still, you might be right that it might warrant testing.
How much would you change to make a nazgul version? With the 9 nazgul and some payoff cards for tempting (galadriel of lothlorien, smeagol, helpful guide, gandalf friend of the shire as examples) I feel like much wouldn't need to change.
Oooh that sounds like an awesome idea. It would require a bit of tweaking but sounds doable. If you need some inspiration my Sauron video is also grixis and could have some decent cards!
I'm surprised why do you not consider keeping mirrorade in it? it can be a very nice to double one of the very strong enchants and it has an insane potential with Extravagant Replication (begin of upK, make token copy of another target nonland perm you control), it'll allow you to pretty much go exponential if let unwatched
@@commandpower1987 I think it is still a good idea, because there are some really powerful non pirate synergies that I would love to fish out of my grave yard so I may include one or two of those cards
One thing to note is that Ozolith (1 mana artifact) and Resourceful Defense (3 Mana White Enchantment) can act as way to save quest counters if, for some reason, people begin targeting the permanents that have quest counters on them.
@@commandpower1987 Yeeeaaah... agreed. I think it's fairly straightforward. I've had Feed the Swarm in my hand in situations where using it would hurt me more than help. Particularly once the creature or enchantment's mana value was higher than my life total, when it literally becomes useless. I don't entirely like Withering Torment. Imo it'll be the most powerful enchant removal in black by a pretty wide margin. Like, 3 mana plus a measly 2 health (wtf!?!?!?!) at instant speed to kill any enchantment... in black??? I've been using cards like Debt to the Kami and some of the beholder creatures (Ghastly Death Tyrant, Baleful Beholder) as well as artifacts- and of course, Feed the Swarm. Black/Rakdos/Grixis players have had to get creative to get rid of enchantments (not just return them to hand), we've had to make sacrifices in terms of mana and/or life to get them off the table. This feels... not quite black to me. Or maybe it's a case of too much too fast- there should have been one or two more cards transitioning from Feed the Swarm to this before they took such a big jump in power.
Yeah I agree entirely. It feels more serious a color pie break than the other black cards that have dealt with enchantments. Very little downside. It is undoubtedly the most powerful one so far!
It is a good effect but maybe for some specific decks. Its a Treefolk so its a good addition to that tribe but 7 mana its a lot. Maybe in a power matters deck could be a good include.
I did a similar Snail inspired deck with Susan Foreman and The Twelfth Doctor, leaning fully into the Temur Cascade hilarity. Some fantastic ideas I'll try to sneak in if I can from this video, Herald of Ilharg, and Gwenna especially got me interested 👀👀
My meme cascade commander deck commander: imoti celebrant of bounty Extra turns for more triggers plus being able to get ahead if behind or digging further if ahead. Card draw lots of it with cards like opt, learn from the past elixir of immortality I'm never decking out, big cmc spells with delve exiling unnecessary cards for more value, cascade creatures for funny value, one discard outlet to put cards i dont want into graveyard or reshuffle untap effects, two tutors and lastly evoke creatures. Then we add a jace "I win if I draw out" along with atherflux as well as weather the storm, mana reflection, imoniscience, zendikar resurgent, and three ways of copying imoti herself and two protection spells. I give you the most broken and most hated deck in mtg😂
I love Ria Ivor so much! She can get out of control EXTREMELY quickly if opponents aren't paying attention. I'm on a budget - so what I did was fill up my Ria deck with a ton of removal (both single and multi-target) since I don't have many ways to give anything evasion. Hold onto your instant removals to kill whatever's blocking your creature that has Ria's ability targeting them. I've otherwise relied on good old fashioned flying - things like Flensing Raptor, Swooping Lookout, Basilica Shepherd and the like. BRING FORTH THE MITES!
How does Gitrog work with this? You can play 2 lands per turn but you have to sac a land to it unless you sac Gritrog which could negate the positive if you sac a land to Baba too. Or does sacrificing a land to Baba count toward "unless you sac a land" keeping Gitrog on the battlefield?
Gitrog is nice cause you will draw with it every time you sac a land to Baba. It's also just an incredibly busted card and getting extra land drops helps you not stay behind in this deck, even if as you said you do need to sac one to gitrog itself
Is it just me or does it feel like we're asking this about a lot of the newer sets? Maybe not Bloomburrow so much, but on some level is Commander becoming more of a 'rotating' format?
I do think your point about commander "rotating" has some merit, there seem to often be designs that are just slightly better versions of something existing rather than unique changes. Of course you don't have to play with the newest version, and that is my approach these days. It's impossible to keep up with everything they release so I only occasionally update my decks!
@@commandpower1987 It's not the overall effect it the cost to its strength, Indestructible, target, attack and defend its too much. should be 7 mana card. With so many ways to keep that card out alive and well for a few rounds is done with ease especially in a commander game. Trust me I will be using it in my deck without a doubt, but I feel some of the mana costs are way too low in this for what they do. The more strategic a card is the more mana I feel it should cost, but that's just an opinion.
I mean it's a 1/1 for four mana that only really gets good when you invest 5 more mana. In commander I think that's totally fine. Great in the right situation but not undercosted overall
The mice white and red mice from bloomburrow may work well as when theyre targeted by your abilities that ability gets copied making that ability copy X4 with Ertha Jo.
Hey! I really appreciate your concise format! I checked out the Moxfield and I see that some of the cards you mentioned are missing/replaced. Have you updated this deck recently? I really wanna buy it but I wanna make sure it's at the PEAK it can be lol (I think Legate Lanius would be a funny addition!)
Hey, yeah this list is a little old so the list probably doesn't fully match the video. In those cases the list is more up to date. That being said there have been thousands of cards released since this video so it might be worth checking out the edhrec page to find new stuff! Finally though, this list can work in many different ways, it's very flexible, so definitely feel free to make your own additions! And Legate Lanius sounds awesome!
Could had been worded better, the first phrase fells like it contradicts the 3rd sentence. If I understood it, you first cast Funeral Room, then on the field you can cast Awakening Hall.
