My name is Ryuta.
I’ve always wanted to become a wildlife photographer from when I was little.
I grew up in England, Studied marine science at University of Hawaii and currently I’m based in Japan. I bought my first camera around 5 years ago. I mainly take photos and videos of the Underwater world and the animals that live there.
From here on I plan to photograph various marine creatures around the world, and hope to spread the beauty of the underwater world to more people.
Is it possible to film at 60fps and change it to 24fps in post. Instead of filming in 24fps. But have it play at normal speed? I prefer the gopro footage I get at 24fps, makes my clips look faster and more action packed however it doesn't leave the ability to slow parts of the footage down cleanly. Sometimes I can't re film in 60 or 120 fps. So was hoping I could always film at 60 or 120 and change frame rate in post. Hope this makes sense...
I have watched this videos few times already and is been very helpful easy to follow, im still struggling with white balance, any suggestions will be highly appreciated, thanks
Can you help me to understand the thought process behind decreasing the highlights and increasing the shadows in the "Light" section within Lightroom but then increasing the highlights and decreasing the shadows in the Curve section when creating your "S Curve"? Wouldn't these two adjustments counteract one another?
Hello Ryuta, how are you ? I have been following you since couple of weeks now. But what is your recommandation for lens and sea frogs case ?✅ Thank you very much and all the best again.
Hope you see this. I almost see like a small gap and notice the gasket isn’t pressed in as much as the other places on the top. Is yours like this as well?
Wonderful video. I have the hero 11 and I was thinking of ordering the red filters. I only think I will swim at max 25 feet so I am going to skip the filter
Hey there!, someone Could help me, I want start take pictures underwater but I'm not sure about what I have to buy, If is better the seafroogs and which one or the go pro héroe 12 black. Anyone Could help me with that advice please thank youuu
Thanks for the great video. You mentioned you used the GoPro Shorty Mini Extension Pole Tripod underwater. Would cleaning be a problem since it is not designed for underwater?
Your pictures are amazing! I'm using the Lumix S5IIX. I'm considering telephoto lens options. Of course, price and weight are considerations. Other than this, the other contenders are the Lumix 70-300; the brand new Sigma 70-200 f2.8 (and later the 2x converter), the Sigma 60-600 and the Sigma 150-600.
Thank you for your detailed explanation, I’m pretty old and don’t understand color grading in post so I will try all settings but leave color at GoPro next time out. 🎉
Hi Ryuta, I am curious about the strategy behind such a low Maximum ISO setting (200-400). Does this create a benefit to post production work? I usually set mine to 1650 but I recently watched a video where they were promoting an Max ISO of 6400 for under water video. I'm hoping you might be able to clear up some confusion I am having at the disparity of ISO levels. As you may have guessed , I do lack basic photography or camera principals! 🙂
Hey thanks for the comment! In both photo and video, it's best to use a low iso as possible, as higher iso values make the footage grainy, and add noise. Increasing ISO makes it easier to shoot in less light, with a trade off for quality. If it's sunny, with clear waters and ur near the surface then definitely use 100-200 iso, as you'll have enough light. This is how u get the nicest looking gopro videos. They aren't really made to shoot well in low light conditions, so the higher iso videos don't look that great in my opinion. If ur shooting on a dark day at like 10 metres, then you might wanna use high iso like 1600ish. However the footage won't be very nice.
Hi Ryuta, Thank you so much for your response. I will give it a try. I'm leaving on 12/28 for 10 days on Cayman Brac and will being shooting constantly!
Hi Ryuta Do you have any preferences or tips on whether it is better to film in slow motion w/GoPro, or film at normal speed and slow the clips in post production? Thanks, Michael B
Hello. Quick question. If I don't own any editing software but have the hero 11. How can I edit my video to get that wonderful blue color at 2:13? Thanks.
@@RyutaOg OK. If I'm going on a vacation and expect to be snorkeling, are there any cheapish one month editing software subscriptions I could get to edit my videos once I get back from my trip? Thanks for your advice. I'll be sure to try that as well.
Do you have a problem with your GoPro over heating while shooting 5k underwater while in a case. Mine starts to over heat after probably 20 minutes. I was shooting at 120fps because it’s my first GoPro and i dont know what I’m doing. I did not have this issue shooting at 4k 60fps. Water temp was only 68. Depth of 30ft. I have a hero 10 black
Higher frame rates tend to really overwork the gopro so if ur shooting 120 frames then try to keep the videos a little shorter each time! 5k/60 i've never really had that problem so far!
great explanation, thanks! what i was wondering: wouldnt it be possible to do color grading on videos shot on vibrant (or natural mode)? i see everyone recommending shooting flat in order to color grade, but why couldnt you have the best of both worlds?
