Valerie Dawn here and I'm super excited to show you creative and fun crafting projects. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting, and more. My Mom taught me to knit and crochet when I was so young, 3 or 4 years old, I don't remember learning. When I wanted a toy sewing machine like my school friend, she taught me to sew on her real sewing machine.
I have a passion for natural fibres like wool, cotton, alpaca, and silk. Creating my own designs and patterns are as much fun as creating the final project. Nothing compares to the special thrill of planning, gathering the materials, and diving into a new creation! So many projects, so little time!
It's ok to be slow when learning new skills, and practice makes perfect. I would derive great joy from being able to inspire you just as my Mom did all those years ago, as she instilled in me a passion for a fulfilling lifelong pastime.
Thank you so much, Liz! I’m using a humble third-hand Husqvarna Mega Quilter with a Grace Frame, though it may actually be made by Janome. I believe they’re no longer in production, but you might find one used. The throat space is quite narrow, so I have to roll the quilt often, but it stitches beautifully with a stitch regulator. I understand how hard it can be to find a quilting machine and frame at a reasonable price, as they can be quite expensive!
That's pretty 😍 June 21, 2024 at 4:30AM - I just wanted to comment that I just now purchased Aunt Lydia's Fashion 3 Crochet Thread at 40% OFF from Michaels ($2.99/ball). I bought 2 balls each of 14 different colors they were selling and got FREE SHIPPING! I do not gain anything from sharing this knowledge but I'm sure most anyone can appreciate saving money. I hope someone benefits from this info. Have a great day! 😊
i'm at 13:35, the upper left wing tip. i'm confused with the intructions. when i do row 1, i have 12 stitches, but row 2 is working 18 stitches, where am I messing up?
Hi Craftforcause24! Thank you for trying my pattern! Here is how Row 2 is counted: 2nd Row - tr c in same st (1 stitch - total 1), tr c in next st (1 stitch - total 2), ch 1, dc in next 2 sc (2 stitches - total 4), [ch 1, half dc in next 2 sts] 4 times(2 stitches per repeat - total 12), ch 2 turn. This accounts for placing row 2 stitches in each of the 12 stitches of row 1. The extra chains in between have the effect of increasing the total number of row 2 stitches to 16 so that the butterfly wing fans out a bit. The chain 2 at the end of row 2 sets you up to start row 3 and is the first stitch of row 3. Please let me know if this helps, and let me know how it turns out for you. Best regards! Valerie
I needed this. I see all these pieced placemats and never feel like cutting, sewing, pressing, sewing more.... Something simple and elegant is perfect.
Thank you. It was very easy for me to follow with you . I have never used such a small hook but the outcome will be beautiful happy holidays hope I see you do more videos and do it with us so we can actually finish it So many projects I just threw away
Thank you so much! With Aunt Lydias Classic 10, size 8 (4.00mm) crochet hook, and my tension, the width including the leaves is 14 1/2 inches (37 cm). The white centre doily is 10 3/4 inches (27 cm). We all have a bit different gauge but this will give you a good estimate. I hope you enjoy making it. Happy holidays!
