Hey thanks for the comment. I agree, that’s of course also always an option to use a NAS as your personal cloud. Of course it’s some upfront investment, but cheaper in the long term.
If your devices are frequently online, then Syncthing is a great option. Doesn't need a server as it's decentralized file sharing from one device to another.
I would like to push back on a few things. 1. Numbered folders are awful. It locks you into an order and if you need to insert a new item at spot 02 you either have to rename everything or go down the 02a_name rabbit hole. This also makes things a nightmare if you try to `cd` around, but that's more of a cli power user problem. 2. Cloud storage is NOT a backup. A. You have little control over the history of the files, and more importantly B. you have almost no control over the account. You loose the account, you loose the data. Back up your cloud data. 3. I do appreciate you coming close to ISO8601 for naming folders, your's is a little off, but it accomplishes the spirit of ISO8601
Hey Daniel, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I agree with you, if you know you’re going to add folders later in between, it might be better to use 10_ … 20_ and then you can always add 11_ etc. I didn’t go this route because most my folders don’t change much and if there’s a new one to add, the order mostly doesn’t matter for me. Also, I agree with cloud storage not being a backup. I also backup my files on physical hard drives from time to time. I might have missed to mention that in the video. Anyways, hope the video was still helpful and you got some value🙏
wonderful, I was searching for AI tool that can help in my research , Bearly will sure do it. The other tools you mentioned are also professionally useful.
Thank you for the advices. My often-used tool is the planner; if I don't write down my plans, I'll forget a lot( Also, to be productive at work, we use WorkTime software. It has a great report system and I get to see how I spend my hours during work.
Thanks, mate! I just started working from home and already started thinking about this after a week only, because of the same reasons you describe. Will definately try it out after hearing this🙌
I can tell you are in the filmmaking industry. If not, it’s really impressive. My husband is an established filmmaker, so I know when production value is high. Thanks for the nice work!
Thank you very much, appreciate it! Actually I haven’t worked in the classic filmmaking industry, pretty much learned all myself. So very motivating to see people appreciating the production value🙏
Wow Markus, amazing video! I love the colorgrading and storytelling of the video. We really feel connected to your story, I think you find your type of video, looking forward to the next one 😁
I utilize a comparable tool, WorkTime, for monitoring my work as a freelancer. I appreciate its numerous reports, which aid me in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines efficiently.
Hey, nice video. Some improvements for you: Get some sound insulation. There is a lot of echo because your walls and your floor are to clean. So get a carpet and some wall decoration like foam sound panels and the quality would be much better. Keep going :)
Million Thanks from Saudi :) I work from home, and I had this sudden huge drop in my productivity! I changed everything and yet, nothing worked :( till I saw this video and the moment I went to the old coffee-shop I used to work at I had this MASSIVE FLOW! I almost couldn't believe it. Again, thanks n love to you for sharing this knowledge with the world! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hey brother, such comments make my day!🙏 So glad you could apply that hack! I keep having exactly the same experience, my productivity just skyrockets when I go to some coffee shops. Nice to see it works for other people as well. I might do another video on the topic of productive work environments, so stay tuned!🙌 Have a lovely day!
