Would you remove the tiles when doing a run of sheet goods that you were going to do through-cuts on? Thanks.

The Tiles are designed to be used on profile and through cuts. Many of our cabinetry and other nesting users appreciate the fact that you can cut through in a single pass instead of using onion skins or tabs to hold your parts.

So this goes on top of the spoil board and cut through then replaced?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS

Yes. You apply the gasket on top of the spoilboard. It is important to adjust your Z depth to just kiss the gasket. When Z depth is adjusted correctly you can use the tile for 300 plus working house.

Question - do you notice any affect of increased deflection after you place a full sheet of material on top of the spoil board? With the top of the spoil board closed off, the vacuum increases, which pulls the spoilboard and material down closer to the machine bed. I seem to be experiencing this on my machine, and getting high and low spots on my cuts, as the spoilboard was surfaced with an open top. Any tips to avoid this from happening?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS 7 месяцев назад
Brendan, with a 3/4" sheet of MDF you should get a complete seal around the perimeter of your zones and spoilboard, which compress flush to the vacuum table's surface. Be sure to tram your fly cutter to ensure that it is even across your work surface and not wavy. Check that the underlying Gird Gasket isn't twisted if it is round, or "mushrooming" over the top if it is square. With LDF being a lighter material this can have less suction and less compression on the gasket. This could be a cause of why you are having a variance once you have sheet stock on your spoilboard. You should replace your spoilboard once it has been surfaced down to a 1/2 - 3/8 inch thickness. If you have more questions please contact us on our webpage.

@@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS thank you! I did find some of my existing gasket cord had been caught between the spoilboard and machine bed, preventing the spoilboard from pulling down completely. Now pulling a a strong vacuum and hopefully will solve my issues!

hi, what about the gasket ? It will rise the height of the material under the piece i want to cut right ? and it won't even be uniform? I am having trouble to cut mdf , does everything perfect, and when it has to cut the entire 18 mm board, it moves it a bit , i think its because of the speed, i have to lower it a bit, going too fast. Using 1 cm board as support under the mdf

is this gasketing material squishy? in other words, will it compress... therefore affecting the Z depth of Cut? Is it better to use the 1/8" thick gasket grid stuff, that way I could have more to shave of for resurfacing?

Would you recommend 3/4" or 1/2" HDPE for the fixture material? What about UHMW, Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Sheets for the fixture base? Seems a bit more sturdy and not much more expensive in the size of fixtures I would make - 12" x 24" or 12"x48. A 1/2" sheet of UHMW might be stiff enough to avoid warping by the vacuum pressure? Thanks!

I've just come across your videos and this seems like it could be something suited to an issue I'm facing currently, I use a CNC Router for Cutting 3mm 5052 Aluminium in 2400x1200 Sheets for Sheet metal construction. We have a Vacuum table and running a 16mm MDF Spoil board but still having issues with material vibration causing heat and then moving parts, Is this product something that could help with holding down thin aluminium and as I'm in Australia is this something i can source from you or not? Thanks heaps :)

@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS

We recommend sealing the edge. It's small leakage, but every area can count. We have a product known as "Edge Tape"to help seal rather than using caulking or other liquid based sealants and having to wait to dry.

I think you should have a direct link to the products you are selling. Also, why does the grid come in machine bed sizes? Do you do the whole table? Can you replace sections?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS Год назад
Good point, thanks! These kits can be purchased directly through Laguna Tools and we've updated the video description above with the link to their site. The Tile Gasket that is in the kit is designed to cover the whole spoilboard. You can apply it to a specific work section, and if you do, you'll want to grid it off with Grid Gasket and/or turn off the other zones for the best parts holding results. You can replace sections if needed. Typically the Tile Gasket becomes the spoil surface and when it's needed to change, simply fly cut it off and apply a new surface.

Have you ever used 3/4" melamine for the in gasket fixtures? Is a quality plywood a better option?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS Год назад
A gasket fixture should be made from a non-porous material. And since 3/4" melamine is just a laminate over particle board or sometimes MDF, it is a poor choice to build a fixture and won't support the qualities of vacuum clamping as you need an air-tight chamber and particle board will leak. Good quality plywood, like Baltic Birch, is ideal, or any other non-porous material.

Would you expect similar performance with this to a phenolic table top? I assume with the advantage that you're product is a consumable and a phenolic top isn't meant to be due to cost.
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS Год назад
The Tile Gasket product sits on top of the spoilboard that sits atop of the vacuum bed. Users should never be cutting directly on a phenolic bed, that's what the spoilboard is intended for - to be carved into and "spoiled".

Part being machined around 5:10 into the video appears to be Delrin or HDPE approximately .75" thick?? In this application were you able to machine the profile in one pass? Either way it's impressive that you can hold the part good enough to machine it without moving!
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS Год назад
Paul, In an air-tight environment, parts do not move. That is the science. But when customers downdraft through a porous MDF spoilboard, for instance, a completely air-tight environment is not the result. It is a porous, leaky board that causes a great deal of vacuum pressure loss. A dedicated fixture made with non-porous material, with a gasket located in a spot to create a clamp on the part, results in the cutting of parts that will not more. We are happy to assist in any way we can to get you to achieve this concept. Call us at any time: 800-878-7827

I am cutting sheets of 6mm EVA foam that has a non porous self adhesive backing sheet. Currently using a 5mm rubber mat with 3mm holes(very similar to your tile system). I am wanting to change to an mdf spoilboard system but dont get anywhere near the clamping power of the rubbber mat.All the parts that I cut are with an EOT knife that cuts through the EVA Foam and about 1.5mm into the rubber mat below. If I was to use your gasket tiling system on mdf sheet how long would it last from all the cut throughs of the oscillating knife?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS Год назад
Our Tile Gasket is a 1/16th inch (1.5mm) thick material. We recommend our users to cut through their sheet goods about .015 inches or .397mm. This means that the tooling bit is just skimming the top of the Tile Gasket. The life of our Tile Gasket is based off the Z depth control and accuracy. For light weight material like your EVA foam we do offer a 1/8th (3.1mm) Tile Gasket as well but the depth of the cut determines the life of the product. You only want your Z depth enough to cut through your material, any deeper and you are sacrificing gasket material and vacuum.

I believe your are referencing the in board gasket and the cover gasket. The In Board gasket is for a dedicated fixture where you place the gasket in a channel. The gasket zeros out allowing for no Z depth adjustment and a longer life of the gasket. The Cover Gasket is a sheet material that is applied to the top of a non porous material and then cut with a drag knife tool to create the dedicated fixture. The Cover Gasket is used when the parts are too small to make a Dedicated Fixture with In Board Gasket. We are always happy to chat out your vacuum hold down issue and help you MAX YOUR VAC 800-878-7827 allstarcnc.com Please subscribe to our you tube channel! ru-vid.com

How come they didn't cut through the tiles?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS 2 года назад
Ziyad- The Z depth is adjusted slightly to just kiss the gasket. It does chew it up over time. It depends on the operator. The gasket still performs as it should be it is chewed up a bit. Much better than a rough spoilboard alone. We are happy to answer any question you may have. Info@allstarcnc.com 800-878-7827

This concept works... I can't believe I had never seen it before. I ordered some of your cover gasket for a small dedicated fixture, and you sent me your demo kit with it. On a none related project, I had a scrap 28"x15" piece of plywood I needed to cut on on my downdraft spoil board. Typically I just double side tape something like that, but it had a bow in it. I tried just turning on the vacuum and about half of it stuck, but the other half was not making contact with the table. i got the sample on board gasket you gave me and ran that around the edge (a little straighter than you just did), and it sucked the whole thing down perfectly flat, and would not move...I never would have thought to use a gasket on a nested downdraft table, but it was amazing. I am going to set up some dedicated fixtures using your in board gasket for several of my part lines that I run all the time. I wish I had ran into you guys before I built my vacuum system. There are several things I would have done differently.

Justin, Thank you for the comment. I am happy to hear the cover gasket worked out well and that the New Customer kit came in handy. Vacuum is a science. When you remove the atmosphere you have a vacuum clamping system rather than just a down draft system. We strive to help American Manufacturing every day. If you have any pictures of the process and are willing to share we would like to see them (info@allstarcnc.com). Also, we would like to share your testimonial on other platforms. Hi Mike - so does the gasket deal with inevitable shallow cuts - I find the MDF compresses and expands due to moisture over time leading to a need to relevel the bed (though I am using Ultralite MDF - which may be worse). Will it tolerate that a little bit. I mean I know its a consumable at the end of the day but just wondering how consumable.
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS 2 года назад
Graham- Yes, at the end of the day, this is a consumable product. Just like a spoilboard would be. So the inevitable shallow cuts into the Tile Gasketing will happen. But these shallow cuts will still produce vacuum seal as long as the gasketing that remains still creates a defined edge from which we can draw the air from. This creates the vacuum clamp, the sealed edge. But when one tile gets to the point it is no longer creates proper seal, we replace the one tile with another. This prevents the need to fly-cut the spoilboard and/or reset the Z depth after fly cutting. Any questions please feel free to reach out.

Great video. Thank you for teaching us all about gasketing. Would you recommend the D-shaped gasket for the 1/4 x 1/4 grid?
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS
@ALLSTARCNCPRODUCTS 3 года назад
When the channels are squared, we recommend squared gasketing products. For a square 1/4" x 1/4" channel, our most common Grid Gasketing product is our UMG 25 312. Is it 1/4" wide to match the channel width, and 5/16" tall. This sticks proud above the table by a consistent 1/16". This is the "lip of the freezer door" that will keep your vacuum pressure as strong as possible.

Your gasket products have proven to be exactly as great as you have described. Do you have any information or videos on how to make a "splice", such as to make a closed loop in a rectangular shaped groove (not a grid, just one channel)?
