I have a 2021 Ultima ZT2. There is a 4 pin plug for the seat safety but only a small bus bar that connects the center pins. The outer wires are white and the inner are green and yellow. If you push the small bus bar out and jumper the outer pins (white wires), this will bypass the seat safety. I basically destroyed my safety switch to see how it worked inside to figure it out. 😂 I don't get off the mower while the blades are on but my yard is fairly hilly and I need to shift my weight around to make sure the uphill wheel gets enough traction to keep me from sliding out. Got tired of the engine stalling. Thanks for sending me down the right path sir! Hopefully this helps someone with their Ultima.
I really appreciate you putting this video up. I was having the same issue where the lawn mower would power down if I leaned too far forward. I had decided to live with it, though it was annoying. Eventually though something went wrong with the switch and the engine would shut off as soon as I disengaged the clutch. I was really trying to avoid taking it to the shop as I knew they would be backed up for the fall. I also knew it had to be a simple non-engine related problem. I tried the fix in this video and it instantly resolved my problem.
Very detailed troubleshooting video straight to the problem without all the talking about what led up to the problem and how the problem has existed, and yada yada on and on. Thanks for the short video it is what every do it yourself person needs 5 stars for me. 😃
Awesome! I'll try it today. I was wondering why that connector looked more complicated than the old ones. Like others, my mower keeps shutting down on bumps, really annoying. I have used the old tie wrap the switch closed trick, but after a while it pops again. Time to fix it right!
I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ru-vid.comUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
Thank you!! I'm a small-statured gal, so if so much as lean forward to adjust my T-shirt or scratch my lower leg I had to restart half the time...tonight I was already down in my barn/garage messing around with the air compressor and a ratchet strap bc my front tire had slipped off the rim and figured what the hell, what's a few more minutes working on the Cub to bypass the seat safety, right? Flipped the seat over and had a basic idea of what to do, but thought it best to double check the web and good thing, because I probably would've made something this simple a few steps more difficult! 😂 So thanks again!!
And it worked! Thank you for the post. My issue was actually the brake switch. The harness came off the switch. But, no more nuisance switch to worry about.
Thank you. My parking brake won't engage this year, so the engine dies every time I have to empty my bagger. I have a big yard, so I have to empty the bags about 10 times, and I don't want to wear out the starter. This is a good fix until I can find a tutorial on how to fix the brake.
If you don't plug it back in even after removing the buss bar then why remove it, just unplug it. I did see where you told someone else just unplugging it won't work, but I don't understand why. If it's never plugged back in and makes no contact how is it going to "not work?" Thank you
Thanks! I've disconnected many of those over the years. This one had me stumped! It will be great not having to wear out my starter from having to restart every blasted time I get off of the beast!
I am 84 and a light 145 lbs. My yard is very bumpy and the seat switch kept stalling the engine. I don’t know if that bothered the engine, but it sure bothered me. Then I found your solution and both myself and the engine want to give you a very sincere “thank you”.
