The road that goes up Mt. Charleston was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corp. A bunch of 16 to 18 year old kids using hand tools and wheel borrows. Supervised by Army Officers and NCOs. They did a lot to protect the wild places on the mountain. My father was part of the crew.
Wow! that’s amazing I had no idea That’s how it was built and that’s awesome your father is apart of that history! What a story I know that must of been a hard job especially for the age range 👏
It is crazy how we all seek out that spot that is so majestic and beautiful to us and most people who see it, and it brings you peace and serenity, but isn’t it crazy how almost all those places are in the middle of nowhere, isolated, no buildings, and usually almost no one there. Maybe we seek isolation from technology the most
I’ve heard a lot of good things about the speed goat 5s. It was actually between these and the speed goats. I went for these because my every day trainers are also Nikes. But I wouldn’t sleep on the speed goats those will be my next trail shoe !
