Awesome work brother you can basically do everything !! What did you use to connect the ends of the brakes ?? I want to extend a stock vw bug gas gauge cable ?? Ty 🤙
Hello brother, great video, lots of info ,thank you for sharing. What I got my attention was the spring plates that you made, did you also make the adjustable part? do you have a separate video on hoe to make adjustable spring plates. I check online an they are pricy and some wants you to send you old plates in. Great job. Have a blessed weekend
@@JohnSmith-jf9yp I spent so much time on this door that the best thing I did was replace the skin! I just worked what was there and it worked! Good luck 👍🏻
What was that about flipped ring gear ? I though, you could take 68 beetle transmission as it is, change the nose cone, get modified spring plates, modified rear drums for wide 5, and get down the road ?? And continue to do full modification by adding disc brakes with lowered front spindles ?
That is for the folks that want to use their bus transmission my friend! And yes you are absolutely right a 67-68 tranny or a type 3 will work with no issues.
@@brianfrancis2862 no they are completely different, you will have to use the 67-68 beetle or the type 3 axles with long shaft! They are 1 1/2 inches longer than the early beetle, also you need offset spring plates to fit them on the bus!
did you have any issues with brake hose fitting hitting the upper dome ? My bus came with flipped spindles and that hose sprung a leak, it was old, and cracked all over. But to get it out, It was hitting that dome and I had to cut it,...twice. Now the new hose is like the old one interms of thread and length, but I cannot seem to get it to screw in. How did you avoid that ?
@@RodsVWGarage - its hitting the link pin ! How did they drive it ?? IDK. It's a camper and to me, keep it stock ! esp for a camper that could see off road use. thank you for the reply !
Thank you for sharing. The suicide door bug is cool, bring back memories when I had a 1967 bug that starter customizing and sold it to my friend and helped him finish the car It have suicide doors with no handles sunken tail lights, ghost flames big stereo system , big motor, is was painted burgundy metallic, the floor pan and motor was paint the same color. we took it to a bug show in Seattle and he won first place in the full custom category and the Hot VW magazine people was there and did and article on His bug, that was back in the early 90's, I still have a copy of that magazine. Thanks take care my brother.
i am building a mid engine rail with a 2.3 lima. flipping the ring gear in the transaxle will weaken it. how hard will it be to put bus reduction set up on an irs suspension? putting them on would make flipping the ring gear unneeded.
@@redartisanwolf6716 thank you very much! It worked well, I’ve used acid a few times since then and some carburetors take longer than others. But don’t leave them in the acid for too long (overnight”) because you might only have a shaft and butterflies left!
Hello brother, this is the video I was waiting for, thank you , you made it look so easy. the flywheel shims that was a good tip, do you also use the dial up tool to set the flywheel end play. the way you did it is much simple. Also do you use any kind of sealant when using the metal push rod tube seal ? I got a short block that I need to put together and this video give me very much confident. Thank you my brother have a blessed weekend.
Great job brother ,looks very good. Using washers to pull dents is a great tip. One question, had you used the spot welder to put panels together or you prefer the the mig welder? Just purchased a dual tip spot welder to work on my Double Cab so I don't have to drill and grind to much especially on the floor and bed panels . You have a blessed week
