Just purchased a Midea French door refrigerator. Used the same outlet as my old fridge. Outlet would trip within 1 minute or sometimes sooner. Very frustrated. Found your video, rewired my GFCI outlet to how you said, and it works. Thank you so much for sharing this, seriously! Thank you!
Happy to hear you found the video helpful. Unfortunately, no one talks about the fact that GFCI outlets don’t play nice with inductive loads, e.g. compressor in the fridge. My pleasure.
I want to put my second fridge in the garage, I have gfci receptacles in the garage, I plugged up the second fridge and the outlet tripped, is it because it’s on the same line as the fridge in the house? Do I need a separate outlet in the garage to run the fridge?
Should this be replaced if it's not leaking? Mine is 17 years old and it's ok but was thinking should I replace it before it breaks (preventive maintenance)? Thank you for the video.
I watched this and thought 'great'. Scored my 12mm board far more than the 4 or so passes, but can I snap it? Lol. Even with my weight plus a small jump it's not interested in snapping. Going outside to use the grinder now...
@@JustForYouDiy I deliberately allowed 150mm to get some leverage. AIUI the Hardi knife cuts a V groove. I gave it one last go, angling the knife a bit on the waste side to make a bit of a V and it worked. Although the break isn't as smooth as I'd like. I'll do the next two (only got 3 boards) with the grinder - that's a piece of cake, just messy.
i have an older fridge/freezer unit from Kitchen Aid, it is the boxy one. no digitialdisplays or anything. we had a power outage for 46 hours from a storm on tuesday finally i knew it came on, yesterday at 221 pm i know my electirc came on. i got hom at 5 and it was on. i opened the fridge door to move frood around, then did it again 5 mintue slater. then nearly 7 pm i opened it and closed it once, then the 2nd time i did it something happened and the lights in both freezer and fridge were off. i went downstairs to push the circuit breaker in and out. not thinking of the CFGI thing. didn't work. i called an appliance guy who came out thie monring. very early siad there was no power going to the fridge. and i forgot there is 4-5 other outlets some with things on them like la lamp a carbon monoxide tester, and a heating pad along it righ tnow. anyway, turnst out my unit was tripped. the appliance guy left did nothing , tested with a extention chord to see if it ran which it did from the basemnet outlet. said it looked fine. an dleft. but said is hould call an electirican to check the pulgs/power source/ circuit breakers so i did. they came, they did move a copue wires in the plug right where the plug of the drige goes in, and he suggesed a new CFGI unit. so i got it . when he left everythign appeared just fine. i get home 6 hours later to find the drige off again but still cold now. i kept hitting the button on the new CFGI unit and thefridge would trun on for 1/10 of a second. but nothign worked. an't get anyone on either side for 3 days ue to a holiday weekend. i will not be home much either for now i plugged it in to the extention chord. will tha tbe safe until tuesday when i can do the rest of teh stuff?
Hello! Your video was very helpful. Where can I purchase the red seal and smaller black for the back wall? The video said to send a message for the red disk. Can you assist me where to get the seal? Thank you. Edward, California.
Hello. Thank you for reaching out. You may purchase a Red Disc Seal kit (red disc and an o-ring) by visiting our website. www.reddiscseal.com Hope this helps.
@JustForYouDiy went thru all these easy and informative steps you gave at the end I tripped my gfci fridge stayed on correctly but tried resetting my gfi and it won’t reset what could possibly be the problem? Thanks in advance
With most GFCI outlets you have to make sure that the line and neutral wires are from the same run (black and white wires are in the same jacket). This ensures that they are the same length and are very close to the same resistance. That said, often times when there are multiple lines and neutrals in the same J-box, if the wrong neutral is connected to the GFCI outlet, it will not reset (it stays in the fault mode). Hope this helps. If you find it helpful, please report back and consider donating to the channel.
Thank you! Do you think this method would work on a wood floor? We have an older home and the sewer pipe is 45 degrees. Only a pvc flange we could find that would accommodate the pipe.
Are you referring to the fitting I showed sliding over the pipe? If so, it’s a splice fitting with few turns of tape on the outside (the black material shown in the video) to increase its outside diameter. Hope this helps.
Where do you live that allows a grey water air vent connect with a black sewer air vent. This is a code violation in all of north america. Horrible diy video
This was done few years ago and everything is working great. You must troll RU-vid to find issues with DIY videos and show how much you think you know. Stop wasting your time, please find something productive to do.
Does the air vent not have to be inline with the furthest drain so all drains are getting air from behind the point of drain. What if that furthest sink is finished with a bowl style sink with no air vent built into its drain line. Its not going to be able to get air from your air vent pipe.
It’s been working great since the renovation, few years ago. You can always hire a plumber and pay thousands of dollars. In your case, I suggest you do that.
It’s usually the other way around, freezer is cold but the fridge side is not. And, that is caused by the internal fan not working. Sorry, I am not sure what could be causing your issue other than low refrigerant.
Replaced Mixet shower cartridge w/brass bottom one from a plumbing store because the one from Home Depot (w/white bottom) wouldn't go back in the pipe(even w/silicone). Water pressure is good, but hot water doesn't seem to be as hot now. :(
Thank you for this excellent explanation along with the practical steps. I'm replacing a capacitor on a similar fan, but ran into a problem. As I was disconnecting defective capacitor, a live lead disconnected from its other terminal. I now have a short black jump wire. There is one live lead to the pull switch, but I'm not sure where the other live lead -- presumably the supply -- connects.
@@JustForYouDiy , I thought about how these can work or should work. Correct me if I'm wrong. The upper thermostat is an either/or switch. It's always on. It sends power to the upper element and when the proper temp is reached, it switches power from the upper element and sends it to the lower element. So, there should be continuity on the left side or to the upper element or lower but not both. The lower thermostat is an on/off switch. It's on until the proper temp is reached. If the proper temp is reached no continuity. If the heater isn't working and the water cold, there should be continuity. If the upper switch is faulty, possibly it could send power to both elements at once? In such a case it would exceed the amperage load and trip a breaker. In my case, it's two 4500 watt elements for a total of 9k watts. 9k watts at 240 is 41 amps. Since this is an old house, it's on a 30 amp cartridge fuse. That would account for it blowing the fuse with both elements giving me 11 ohms. Another breaker possibility could be the element grounding out to the tank. That's not my case but others reading this might have that problem.
@@JustForYouDiy hey thanks for your reply And for the video man. Im familiar with bimetal disc temperature safeties (klixon) for a set temperature cut out, but not sure how they can be used for a range of different temperatures settings?
Thank you for the interest. The individual jar holder can hold a 1-5/8” square jar, typical spice and herb jar sold by Walmart. It has two countersink screw holes in the rear for mounting. Use of #6 x 3/8” flat head screws are recommended (Home Depot 872-578). As seen in the video, the mounting holes are accessible through the front two triangle holes. The left side wall of the holder is slightly narrower than the right side, this reduces the overall width when stacked next to each other while allowing for a thumb and index finger to grab the jar. The bottom of the holder has many holes including a hole at each corner to allow for ease of cleaning. Furthermore, as you can see in the video, there is a notch cutout in the front of the holder to reduce the overall vertical stacking height by allowing the jar to tip forward. The .stl file for 3D printing is for sale for $3.00 as long as the product is used for personal use and it is not sold. If you are interested in purchasing the .stl file, please let me know. My PRO1 thermostats screen went blank today. Opened up the compartment and there were no batteries in there. Is it possible that when it was installed, it was already “charged”? There is a wire going through it from the wall as well. I put batteries in the compartment and it’s fine now so I’m confused!
@@JustForYouDiy thank you! Since this is the case, I shouldn’t need batteries then? Could there be something wrong with the wiring? I was planning on having someone come look at it tomorrow. When I take the batteries out, the screen goes blank after about 30-45 mins.
@@BlueEverAfterthis is the same exact problem I’m experiencing. Someone came and installed this new Pro thermostat and it didn’t have batteries. The next day it turned off and now it’s not working.
If it has a terminal marked “C” it is designed to get power from the AC’s 24V. Or, use batteries. The thermostat will work with either power source. In cases when the thermostat is powered by the AC’s 24V, the batteries become the backup power source. However, if AC’s 24V fails (bad fuse, bad transformer, bad wiring), the AC would not run. So, if the AC is running and the “C” terminal has a wire attached to it but the thermostat will not power up, wiring issue or thermostat issue. Using a voltmeter and measuring the voltage between “C” and “R” in normal condition you should get 24V-28V AC. Hope this helps. Here’s one of my videos going over the AC basics. I have a question: My GFCI outlet in the garage is dedicated to itself. There was a 2004 Whirlpool fridge there before plugged in and it never popped the outlet. I got a 2021 Samsung refrigerator. After plugging it in it trips the breaker as soon as the compressor begins to draw power. I plugged it into the laundry room outlet that is not a direct GFCI outlet, but on a circuited one and it works just fine. Do I need to follow your video to fix it?
Inductive load such as the motor in the compressor does not play nice with GFCI outlet’s circuitry. Age and MFG play a big role in this. That said, you could replace the GFCI outlet in question as its age maybe questionable. Or, follow the instructions in this video which will definitely fix it. I personally, don’t power a fridge with a GFCI or GFCI protected outlet. Hope this helps.
Hello. Three questions. 1. My copper pipe is close to three inches? Is it too long? What is the correct length? 2. I could also use a recommendation for a slip-on tub spout with diverter. I am interested in slip-on spouts only. 3. Can I use plumber's grease to lub the O ring? Thanks!!!
