06:10 haha, that's a quick shortcut there to retract the lens, don't need to separate the lens module first. But I'd advise that you disconnect the lens FPC from the circuit board first before you connect any power to the motor.
Hi I got a question . I sit on the lens of my Nikon coolpix s7000 and now it’s making a weird noise and when it’s off the lens is not going back in . Do you it is fixable ?
Perhaps one of the grooves, protrusions, or gears inside the lens has broken and debris has become caught. If the protrusion that fits into the groove is damaged, the part will need to be replaced. If you're confident in your ability to repair it, disassemble it and carefully search for the damaged area. Remove any dirt and debris. If the protrusion is damaged, it will need to be repaired. If you're not confident, don't touch it and ask a repair shop in your country.
Does anybody know how to fix my problem? My camera will turn on then freeze after a few seconds. The only way I can turn it off after is by taking out the battery and putting it back in.

When the lens retracts, the notch on the tip of the lens presses against the protrusion on the inside of the lens barrier, closing it. When the lens extends, the notch is released and the barrier is opened by the force of the spring. All models have roughly the same mechanism.
Heyy! Quick question. I didnt follow your tutorial closely, and I ended up removing the sensor holder screws. How fucked am I? Does it need calibration? It seems unlikely to me that they calibrate with three screws, but I rather ask you about it.
If the sensor is a CMOS, check to see if the focus is correct. If it's not, you'll need to adjust it, but if it is, there's no need to. Just tighten the screws back in place.

I think I can handle the wires, but I've never soldered with a heat gun. Is it possible to use conductive glue in those places where there are 4 small contacts? How is your camera doing?
It depends on the performance of the conductive adhesive. Generally, it is weak against impacts. Cheap ones made in China cannot secure parts in place. Depending on the number of shots taken, the cable can last for about two years if replaced properly. As for the durability of the cable, it can't be helped as the lens design has some problems with the structure. I hope you don't destroy or lose the sensor.
@@orientalbored Yesterday I spent half the night sorting out the lens. I couldn't resolder the sensors, it's not for my eyes. The camera works with the stabilization turned off (in A mode, that's all I need). Thanks again, without the video I would definitely have gotten lost.
I know this is an old video but I have a question. Can I just order the weird looking cable new and reconnect it on the sockets? Where is it that needs soldering? Wouldn’t it be unplug old, plug in new? Thanks a lot
If the cable comes with a connector, sensor and thermistor, only the motor part needs to be soldered. If the cable does not have the sensor, connector, and thermistor attached, you will need to replace them all. Be careful when purchasing cables. It is safer to use a tester or similar to check in advance whether the cable is truly damaged. In rare cases, the image stabilization cable or focus cable may be the cause. It's best to identify where the problem is first.
@@orientalbored Friend today I opened the camera and took a close look at the cable. It seems to be in good condition, it is bent right there like yours but no clear breakage. You mentioned the image stabilization cable, which one is that? And what else could be the problem? Mine turns on and gives me the turn on and off error right away, the lens do not come out :(
@@ericpena3426 You cannot tell if the cable is broken unless you measure the resistance with a tester. There are various possible causes, such as lens deformation or dirt on the gears, so we cannot point out the cause here. You will have to investigate it yourself.
If the photos are recorded on the SD card without any problems, the LCD may be defective. 1. Try reseating the LCD cable. (Check if the LCD itself is defective or the backlight is defective.) 2. Thank you very much. The lens of my 500 was not opening fully, so I couldn’t take photos. I disassembled the whole thing, now the lens works and it takes photos! But the LCD is no longer working :( There is power going to it, but no image displayed. Not sure if I should try re-assembling again or buy a new LCD screen.
Even if you turn on the power with the LCD cable connected and touch it lightly, there is no display. Check: Re-insert the LCD cable and check if it is inserted too shallow, the connector pin is damaged, or the LCD cable is damaged.
First of all. Thanks for the awesome Video! As you are the moste knowledgeable Person i know when it comes to XF1 Repairs, I have a small Question. My XF1 has no Lens Control Error. But it has weird Aperture and Shutterspeed Problems. Those Problems came suddenly, after I took some pictures. The Aperture seems to be always fully open, even in Manual mode, when I step it down. And the Light Meter seems to be showing everything underexposed, so the camera is overexposing in auto modes. But the weirdest part: In Video Mode Everything works and looks perfectly. Do you have any Idea what could be the Problem? I already ordered new Cables from China but I'm unsure if thats even the Problem.
If there is no submergence or fall, most likely it will be a disconnection like the one shown in this video. It seems that if there is slight contact when the lens is expanding or contracting, it will not cause a lens error. It is better to replace this cable slowly and carefully as it is difficult to know which direction to crease the FPC cable when reassembling the camera shake unit. It is a good idea to keep the original cable you removed and use it as a reference. After that, you will not be able to use the minimum or maximum focal length unless you properly align the gears on the CMOS bottom plate. If it does not fit, please experiment with engaging the gears with the lens extended or retracted when reassembling. I wish you success.

Since the Japanese manufacturer's sensor is a discontinued product, I don't think you can get the same one. I couldn't find it myself. Sometimes cables with sensors are sold, so why not wait for that?
