Here you will find movies involving rc vehicles, vintage free flight planes, old bits of machinery, wireless cameras and generally how to make things. My name is Steve Roberts. I live in London but was born in Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire. I teach Animation at Central St Martins College of Art and Design.
The bike was 69-70 years old when you uploaded this, now she's 86. Do you still own and ride the old dear? It takes courage to take on old bikes, they need a lot of tender loving care, whereas soulless modern bikes are more or less set and forget... which is okay in the hectic modern world... but old bikes return the love they receive, albeit as somewhat demanding mistresses.
I moved house a few months after this video and had a lot of DIY to do on my new home. It sat in my front room for a couple of years and then I sold it to pay for a new central heating system (bitterly regretted it). Strangely enough, I saw it for sale on eBay a couple of months ago. I bought it for about £1300, I sold it to a lovely gent up in Blackpool for £3000 and it was for sale recently at a dealer in Suffolk for £5000! Lovely little bike, with some interesting engineering (unit construction of engine and gearbox)! Not the quickest bike in the world (top speed was about 45 mph, downhill and back wind)!
More compression. More boldness. What a sad little flight for such a great design. Get her soaring up and up and buzzing... or just go home and hang it on a wall
What😂 it sounded slightly over compressed. Yeah it’s such a great design that if you get her up and soaring it will just fly away never to be seen again that’s if you don’t a dethermaliser. Plus it his model that he put so much effort in to building he can do what ever he wants with it and fly it the way he wants too.
I did one of these but opted for twist wing and ran a fixed elevator . It was quite good for light lift slope soaring . Plus it fit in the glove box with the wings removed
I was intrigued when you first took it out of that black box. Was the box just to send it to you or was it purpose made for Black Magic? I have completed and covered my Black Magic fuselage and tail now. I do not think the tail design is flimsy as some people describe. If it's made per plan it is strong enough. I will be using 3 ch radio but I have still made the stab and fin removable. I shall also make two piece wings as I just love the idea of putting my pride and joy in a box when it isn't in the air. Still cannot grasp how the engine is supposed to mount. Can you do a video explaining this please? Pete
Great video. You guys know how to have fun. I am learning to have fun too after years of competition flying in both R/C pattern and control line competition. I built a Playboy Sr. with a Super Cyclone on ignition, and a scaled down to 60" Lanzo Bomber with an Ohlsson 23 side port on ignition. I have numerous old time control line planes with ignition engines. One of my favorites came from you guys. The Taurus. Mine has an Orwick 64 on it at the present time. It has also been flown with an Anderson Spitfire 65. It is such a great flyer that it won the spark ignition event at the Vintage Stunt Champs in Tuscon 3 years in a row. Now I just fly for fun. At 81 years old I have become a vintage flyer.
