To my mind its redolent of a child hearing language, hearing the emotion but not quite getting the meaning. Very cleverly contrived. On this vid itself thankyou very much, most helpful.
1:55 This reflects my school life very well. Even though I could go to class and learn, constantly being judged and treated like a monster made living seem like punishment no matter how much I tried to be reasonable.
I put this book down after only a few pages. I didn't like the main character or his way of seeing the world. It was too stilted, too stiff and robotic. The author is very good at bringing the reader into this broken person's messed up brain. I walked away from this one quickly.
It is perfectly well done, but there were no American Indians in the novel, there were Indians from India. Thank you for animating my favourite detective story!
Living in Barcelona since 2013, and then visiting again last month, reinforced my perception of the failure of Barcelonian socialism. The people there are very arrogant. They have a horrific sense of entitlement to anything free and generally speaking they are lazy and uncreative. They protest for more free time and they do nothing with that free time to better themselves or their community. The banks are atrocious and will outright steal your money, regardless of your rights that money and amount of documentation. The socialism of Barcelona has made me antisocial, even though I was probably a socialist for most of my life. 0:46 liberals tend to be unorganized and undisciplined and this this tends to make them ineffective. So their ideas tend to be short-lived, begging the question about the value of those ideas if they cannot be actualized and maintained
I used to watch C-Span lectures on American History and the Constitution. One of the lecturers, forgive me for not remembering name, pointed our that on one of the later drafts of that document the words "life, liberty and property" appear in Jefferson's hand. However, the word "property" had been struck through, and above it, in John Adams hand, were the words "pursuit of happiness." I read Greenblatt's work shortly after publication. I have always been "Epicurean" in my thinking. It was that work that gave me a label for it. We live in an Epicurean culture smeared with a monotheistic veneer. That's a serious contradiction.

Realmente, esse livro é excelente. Acabei de terminá-lo e não pude deixar de ter a sensação de ter passado as últimas semanas dentro do império otomano
So was the war originated by a banana republic style coup by evil men or was it a Revolution by a mix of socialists, anarchists and communists? I don’t get it
Both. Or rather, the war was started by a military coup, and the left-wing revolutions were immediate reactions to it. The two sides split up Spain and then went to war.
@@obamabinladen4109 haha. Please check out the failed revolution attempt of 1934, when the conservatives were in the government. There is so much more to Spanish Civil War than “Franco bad”.
