When I was a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s, my dad was a Triumph specialist and many of his customers were Stag owners. The quality of some of these cars was abysmal but aesthetically they are a work of art. Even the engines ran well if maintained properly and I could listen to the unique sound of that Stag V8 all day. Great to see guys who really care about their work and with a full restoration these cars will leave the workshop better than when they originally left the factory and will hopefully be preserved for decades to come.
The welding at 9.16 - 9.17 wow that really is not good work more like a back street garage bodge job why not file fit and tig the repair panels you will be charging good money i would imagine why not do a proper job body filler straight over welds another no should be fiber filled then body filler but if you tig weld and body work properly minimal if any filler work would be needed
"should be fiber filled " I hope you're not meaning glass fibre (uk spelling) - now that's is a real back street garage bodge. Lead filling is so much better. I bet you've kicked some tyres in your short life Wayne .
@@kevinford6420 I guess other people view of what's reliable isn't my view. Much as one likes to pontificate about these cars/engines, we're not talking Lexus reliability here!
The best way to care for a Stag is to drive it off a cliff. Let's be honest, such cars of that era, Jag's Bentley, Aston's, Lotus, Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Ford ... are a restorer's bread and butter. Take the people money, but don't kid them that it will outlast a Lexus or that it is anything but a money pit. I know a few people who own Stag's, and they rarely drive them 'cause they're always being mended for something or other. Strange that (cough)!
