I remember how popular'80s culture was in the early 2000s. Come to think about it, a particular decades culture always resurfaces 20 years later. think about it, in the 1970s, 50s culture made a comeback with the show Happy Days. In the 1980's, 60's culture came back in the form of new hippies and clothing. In the 1990s, the 70s were popular once again with bell bottom jeans and That 70s show. See a pattern here? Now that we are in the 2010's, 90's culture has made a comeback.
You're not the first person to mention that nostalgia has a twenty-year lag. Now that we're in 2021, 2000's nostalgia is starting to creep up; the only problem is that, when I think of early 2000's culture, I think of nostalgia culture itself, what with the preponderance of "I Love the 80's" and things of that nature.
Indeed. Hipsters have been around for a bit too long. If I remember correctly, according to various fashion and history websites, the hipster culture had in the late '40s and constantly evolved.
I watched every one when it first aired...Turned me on to a lot of different music...I wished I saved all the shows I taped back then...I'm very surprised and saddened the originals never came out on DVD the only ones you can get are the crap Cinemax, sci-fi series shows and Movie..The Yanks fucked a good thing up again...THIS WAS MAX AT HIS BEST!!!...If you have any more full shows could you please upload them!!!...Anyway thanks for this :)
Bobby Tumbleweed Unfortunately I'm a Brit living in the US and have seen the "bastardisation" of many many UK shows over the years...where the UK take shows "as is" from the US and shows them without change or remakes (for the most part) but the bottom line is...The BBC is there to make money( to make more original shows) and will sell the rights to anyone who has the money (apart from DR WHO so far thank god)...I really don't know why the US has to make "remakes" of English speaking shows but one of my theories is...Most US citizens are just to lazy or dumb to work out some of the slang and slight differences in dialects ...I'm saying this from personal experience (25 years living in the US)...The one show in resent years that I couldn't wrap my head around was "Coupling"...The US version was word for word but just had different actors (Cancelled after the 4th show)...What was the point? My guess is the actors were better looking maybe?....Anyway I have looked for US shows that have been remakes for the UK and found a few ( mostly Game shows and reality shows and that makes sense) Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_television_series_based_on_American_television_series . I have also found a shit load of UK to US...I think a lot of people who see this list will be shocked... Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_television_series_based_on_British_television_series ...Looking at the evidence and facts and I'm not being bias here but it really looks like the US networks and a large population are lacking in creativity and are very Lazy ....One last thing...it's just not the BBC who sells the rights... ITV where this show was aired was on Channel 4.... So ITV are just as bad as the BBC as in selling the rights to Great original shows
Bobby Tumbleweed So true...Even the "Space race" and "nuke race" were all from ex Nazi Scientists after WW2...The only thing the US had behind them was $ ...No ex Nazi Scientists = no NASA No Nukes and many other things
Really decent! A bit overliteral perhaps at times, but very nicely done! Join us at the official MC 900 Ft Jesus facebook page, facebook.com/mc900ftjesus
To think that they couldn't even fully computer-generate a character like this in the 80s, and had to fudge it by basing it on a real actor. That's with the best computers money could buy back then.
