I would think it was a sport. It was after school (at least at my school) so my parents just had to pick me up later. But I quit because felt like it was too much. (mine was 3 hours every thursday.)
Usually it's considered a sport at schools and you wouldn't have to do P.E. At junior highs it's not though... For me, it counts as two years of P.E. credits because it's zero peropd, first period, and after school.
THAT WAS A GOOD SHOW.THE FLAG WORK SEEMED LIKE IT WAS ON TEMPO.THE ONLY QUESTION THAT I HAVE IS DURING THE MIDDLE I HEARD A GIRL SAY 5678?WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT?BESIDES THAT IT WAS PRETTY AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE
Our coach teaches us to count during our show to stay in time so it was probably just habit. If it were a real competition you would just count in your head.
I'm sure you have harder work and weapons and all, but I think it's judged by the technique and cleanliness of it... if I am correct, not the diffuculty.
Myron Caringal The judges take in account the difficulty of the work as well as how clean it is also. There are also different divisions and each division is graded on a scale. Everyone has their own level that they are on so the difficulty of the flag work that will be taught should correspond with that.
I thought the same too...the show was a little slow; I did like the flags and the mat though. But I'm guessing this is JV since there aren't any rifles, etc. Some girls also didn't fixed their silks when they got caught.
***** This was our first season ever having a winter guard. Our fall routines had been choreographed by captains, but then we got a new instructor. Going from student led routines to getting first and second place in competition, we did well if I do say so myself. Our program has expanded tremendously since this show!
yea, but if you're looking at the work you can assume that they were a more beginning group, so how many advanced/"interesting" things are you going to expect to see?
it's not bad, I'm actually quite proud of you girls, you showed how a performing attitude separated the good groups from the REALLY good groups.... there are a few moments where it's TOO tacky... tacky works with this song but don't overdo it, and at the end, I wouldn't even have pulled out a flag, i would have just finished with the body statement... mainly the throwing of the flag at the end totally messed up the relaxed mood we felt.. I want to see your show this year now!! I really loved it!
This is the first time they ever had a Winter Guard at this school. The instructor had never done winter guard, nor had the girls. This was also a dress rehearsal. They took 2nd place at their first competion and continued to change and improve the show as they went. Never came in last place, pretty good for a first time with a bunch of people who didn't know what they were doing!
