Welcome to Big Oz Explorers! After 3.5 years on the road full time, we are now part-time travellers, running Agora Hideaway, our campground in Tenterfield, NSW. Join us as we share a blend of farm life, DIY, and travel adventures with fortnightly episodes. Whether you're planning your big lap or curious about an off-grid lifestyle, we’ll show you what we have learnt so far and why we chose this life. It’s an exciting ride full of ups, downs, and learning curves, all shared by your genuine Aussie family.
First I thought I wanted a composting toilet over a cassette toilet. But after seeing this, I think I'd rather have the cassette toilet. Thank you for posting an honest review!
It would be great to see an update on how your kids are going. How they are enjoying school, making friends, being suburban kids etc. Now I fully appreciate privacy concerns so I’ll leave it up to you.
I must’ve started from Close the beginning because i actually 1st watched because i was building my own canopy setup at the time & i was looking for inspo & that’s how i found your channel & followed along on the adventures.. good luck with the new kind of adventure you’re starting off 👍
What a beautiful snippet of your adventures, I’ve been subscribed from the very start 💫 Had a giggle at Chris’s hair ‘flick’ back in the day 😂 All the best with the little farm, we will get there one day from over here in the West ♥️

Dislike for putting that sticker on the road sign. The road sign is not your personal belonging. Other than that, I'm glad you had a fantastic time out there, and thanks for sharing the experience.
Thankyou for the video showing the Elite model which I had not heard about before. Can you tell me where you got the fans from my search can only find the with prices in US dollars.
Saw another bloke use coconut coir bricks that he crushes up as a course powder, apparently it works better keeping the waste drier and able to break down easier
How cool! We just came back from an overnight at Aquila, such a great game reserve. We are in Perth WA and have watched a lot of your Oz travels. We travel often to SA to visit family in Cape Town 😂
IMPORTANT TO NOTE. None of the small models compost anything. They are collection devices not composters. Calling a 4 gallon churning bin a composting toilets is deceiving. Think those tiny, less-than-4-gallon composting toilets are effectively composting your waste? Think again! Here’s why they don't: Insufficient Time: Real composting needs many months! Small receptacles fill up quickly, giving waste no time to decompose properly. Poor Aeration : Composting thrives on oxygen. Tiny containers often lack the airflow needed 9even with the fan), leading to bad smells and ineffective composting. Temperature Issues : Composting needs heat to break down waste and kill pathogens. Small volumes can’t retain the necessary high temperatures. Moisture Problems : Maintaining the perfect moisture balance is tough in small spaces. Too much or too little moisture = composting failure. Health Risks : Without proper composting conditions, pathogens don’t break down, posing serious health risks. Check out larger systems or learn more from experts like the EPA and the Humanure Handbook by Joseph Jenkins. I have had a Nature's Head for three years with continuous use. It works to reduce volume and store temporarily for 2-3 months, but then it all goes to the real composting bin outside.
